The question was brought up that in order to be political churches should pay taxes.. I say if this would free us up to run Christian politicians and campaign for Christian laws, then we should go for it.. Paying a few taxes would not hurt us as God blesses his children and then we would be free to say whatever we wanted from the pulpit without worrying about our tax exempt status.. What do you think.. USA a christian nation.

The reasons Churches are exempt is because they do so much feeding of the poor & free medical treatment ect. But if it meant freedom to run Christian politicians then it would be worth the extra money. Christians need to unite and make a bigger impact on our Govt and the taxes would be a small price to pay

I personally believe that we should continue to be active in government as we are, but the greater thing is that it is high time for Christians to seek God earnestly for a revival that will cleanse and purge this nation from within; then individuals who spring from that revival will work to cleanse and purge this nation of wickedness.
Our priorities as Christians are not where they should be.

All people employed by a church pay taxes. The only taxes that are not paid are property taxes. Why?
A quick check of the Constitution would see that religious organizations are exempt for a very good reason. When this country was settled, the framers of the Constitution put in this provision to keep people from favoring one religion over another.

Churches are exempt from paying taxes because if they weren't, the government could tax any religion they wanted to out of existence. Church and state are separate for a reason its why we have a democracy instead of a theocracy.

Everyone says it, "Keep church and gov't seperate". Therefore, you badmouth homos all you want and you don't pay taxes. Keep in mind that this part was added in law to keep gov't from molding religion and churches.
I say churches have better things to do with their money than send it to the gov't and fund things to "debunk" christianity, which "helps the world"
Also, since when can Christians not get into gov't actions cause their churches don't pay taxes?

I would say that religious bodies as such should not pay taxes but I am indeed bothered that spending on political causes by religious bodies comes from tax-exempt revenue streams.

Yes, if only for accountability. Sure, run your politicians and campaigns -- start with Kirk Cameron. He'll make everything right, won't he? Or, maybe Newt Gingrich (reportedly a Baptist) will be more influential.

As long as the tax dollars go towards Planned Parenthood clinics and education, you've got yourself a deal! At least with me. The US churches may have some problems with this.

If Christians pay taxes then there can be no complaints about our influence with government. Then the preachers could preach the word without fear of Government interference
