I'm not talking about someone who was simply living a moral, good life - which I respect, and wish more people were like. I'm talking about a nutty religious person that constantly quoted scripture and had a holier-than-thou attitude all the time. Anybody?

Yep. I was going off to grad school anyway, but we may have made it work... until one day he took me lunch, reached across the table and said lovingly, "Darling, I'm worried about your soul."

You could hear the relationship die like a punctured balloon.

He knew full well I was a spiritualist and didn't like Christianity, but someone at work converted him and so he had to try to 'save' me. I think it was an effort to make me feel dependent on him... he even talked about how men were supposed to be the heads of women. Which just goes to show that even after a year and half, he didn't know me half so well as he thought he did.

No, I've never left someone because they were too religious. I did leave someone because of the lack of religion. The situation was that he told me he was a Christian. We were talking about marriage and children. It was a pretty serious relationship for the time. Over a year later, he called me and admitted that he lied. He lied about being a Christian. I couldn't deal with that much of a lie, and I ended up leaving him. I have had two guys leave ME because I was too religious for them. In the end, it was actually more that I wouldn't sleep with them and bend on that morale of mine. They couldn't deal with that so they left. That's fine with me. I have someone better now, :-)

No. But my last boyfriend broke up with me (after dating for 2 years) so that he could spend more time with God.

(I scratched my head about that one for a while but figured I was better off.)
