I was in class the other day and of course the topic was about Israel wars.
One of the discussions was about when Nixon deployed a large mass of Artillery and weapons for Israel to use at that time.

A certain gentleman spoke up and said, They didn't really have to even use the Artillery and weapons, Because before israel got there to fight their enemies had up and left. Why? Because they heard a massive sound of what sounded like a nation of Bees/insects and they fled the scene.

Is this true or even near true? If so could you give me a link to a website that would the information on it.
Thanks

My recollection is that the Israelis received a shipment of new F-4 Phantom fighters to replace losses. I never heard of any shipments of artillery. The war was very short and most equipment that was to be sent never was. The fighters were flown in and therefore immediately available.

The Egyptians were driven back from the Suez Canal by the IDF (Israeli Defense Force) and that is what really ended the war. The other countries involved in the '67 war were trounced on the Golan Heights. It was only Egyptians who put up a respectable fight.

The Egyptians put up a good fight because they deployed the AT-3 Sagger ATGM which had not been seen prior to the war. Israeli armor suffered heavily. The Egyptians also used state-of-the-art Soviet SAM systems that inflicted heavy losses on the IAF (Israeli Air Force). The Egyptians did not follow up any of their successes and just dug in. Eventually the IDF changed their tactics (i.e. they quit attacking piecemeal and used combined arms tactics) and drove them out.

edit: Ugghh!!!!!. The guys below are right. The '67 war was before Nixon. I got tripped up by your question. Give me a thumbs down for lack of attention to detail!

That is not true. You rarely find bees in the desert. Bees only survive where there is a lot of vegetation and plants where they can take nectar from. The Israeli wars were all fought in the middle of the desert like Sinai, Golan Heights, and Negev where there is nothing but sand as far as the eye can see.

Since you mentioned Nixon, then it could be the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

The war fought by Israel in the 60's was the Six Days War of 1967. But Johnson was the US president at that time and not Nixon.

You can google "Yom Kippur War" and "Six Days War" on the internet. There are plenty of websites out there that have the information.

The war in question was the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

President Nixon didn't deploy anything for Israel... He just allowed Israel to get emergency re-supplied by allowing the purchase of arms already requested to have their delivery dates sped up through the Secretary of Defence and the Secretary of State, and didn't veto it, if you understand what I mean.

Without this much needed airlift, quite possibly, Israel would have been defeated.

A good book to read on this subject is:
The Two O'Clock War, The 1973 Yom Kippur Conflict and the Airlift That Saved Israel by Walter J. Boyne and Leslie Leyland Fields, published in 2002.

Last I heard, bees and insect sounds were alluded to in the First Testament regarding some of the battles fought by the Israelites on their way from Eygpt to the land of Canaan back then.

there is not any warfare in Israel. Israel is beset by utilising enemies who've sworn their destruction. yet left on my own Israel is not any chance to everyone. Even the Palestinian economic device is flourishing and many mansions are being equipped in sturdy elements, their economic device grew at a fee of seven % very last year and with help from Israel technologies is recuperating the rural output to an volume that they are starting up to export strawberries and different treats to Europe. yet for sure in case you take heed to the BBC , "no longer something is recuperating on the floor for palestinians"
