If you'll read the entire chapter, you will discover that it is teaching NOT to judge others. You are doing exactly the opposite of what it teaches by JUDGING others as swine! Using quotes out of context can get you in hot water.

Just like in an open barnyard there are chickens, pigs, geese
and other creatures running around all mixed together. The only time the barnyard changes is when one of the animals has more little animals, is sold, butchered or dies.
The swine will come out into the barnyard along with all the other animals as long as they are alive. There's no avoiding it.
The verse you quote is isolated by itself in Christ's teaching.
It is preceded by verses on judging, but it is not included in that portion in the same context so it must stand alone. The following verses have nothing to do with it either.
It is an admonition telling those present that they are not to cast that which is holy out to just anyone because some will trample on those things and then turn on you and rend you.
Basically I believe it says that we are not to try to continue to talk with those who refuse holy things because they will lack understanding and twist them to say something else or mock them. The mocking is the "rending" talked about, and in some countries people are imprisoned and killed for their faith by those who reject the counsel of scripture.

I agree.. "evangelizing" and "witnessing" in their classic form which involves merely quoting scripture and telling people that "Jesus saves" and those type of repetitive cliches probably ARE better suited to face to face encounters. However, using logic, philosophy, history, occasionally peppered in with a bible verse or two, I think DOES have a more positive impact then spouting biblical references. ALSO.. you will never know who reads your question or your answer and you won't know who stopped and thought about it. Who was impacted by it, therefore, even if you notice the same posters replying each time.. this doesn't mean your efforts are in vain. Lastly, you can use Yahoo Answers R&S section as a way to try out your replies to their questions and see which ones seem to work and which ones seem to get shot down. THUS, when you DO meet someone face to face.. you will be able to stand up for your beliefs much better. So don't feel disheartened.

Since this is a public forum and both believers and non believers participate, this is impossible to carry out without simply leaving. On the other hand, you can correspond personally with some folks, and if they refuse to hear, you can stop correspondence.
Consider this more like the "net cast into the sea which gathered all kinds of fish." What sort are netted can be sorted out later.

We are on a level playing ground. Everyone is equal. The Bible says there will be those who do not believe--There will be those who do.
The Bible is a pearl that non Christians don't want to hear. So I would say to Be Christian and do not use the Bible that way it is of no offense to the non-Christian and Christians are not offended by the rejection of the same.

Once you see your spiritual pearl, you will not want to cast it. Read scripture about the pearl which is worth everything. It is the treasure hidden in a field. It is a Christ parable.
You are probably thinking about sharing your religious faith with others. That is in line with the parable of the sower.

Prudence is called for, but the word of God will find fertile soil by the grace of God.
Nothing works without grace.
That's why prayer is more important.

I think God is happy to provide the opportunity to learn about him to everyone. Jesus ate with the tax collectors not the rabbis.

I think we, as Christians, should not cherry pick the Bible to try to make ourselves look smart... especially here on Yahoo. Use your faith to do good for your community, and you don't have much to worry about.
