My Chihuahua looks thin and very sad lately, he's so skinny and his tongue hangs from his mouth, is he really sick or what do i need to do?

It can be a sign of illness, yes. WIth the weight loss and lethargy (I'm assuming that's the "sad" look), it can definitely be a health problem. Try to get him a vet appointment as soon as possible.

Dogs hang their tongue out when they are too warm, panting, etc... I would be worried about the weight loss and fact that he seems sad.. The tongue doesn't necessary say ' sick ' but it could be hanging out more cause he isn't feeling well.. has a fever, etc.. I would take him in to the vet and get him to check the dog.. If there is no reason why he is losing weight and looking skinny??... Mention the tongue while you are there.

No, the tongue hanging out is not necessarily a sign of illness. I know some older dogs who have few teeth left whose tongues hang out because there is nothing to hold it in.

However, if your dog seems to have lost weight and is not acting like himself, he should definitely be seen by the vet.

If you ever suspect a pet of yours may be ill, you need to take it to a vet.

I would be more concerned about the skinnyness and lethargy. Overall, this does not sound like a healthy dog, so please go to a vet.
