What should I do with this unwanted attention? There is a manager at work, in another department, not too much older than me, who obviously has a crush on me (yuck). He has not done anything ‘inappropriate’ just gives me the creeps. He acts like he knows me, keeps popping into my office for no reason and watches me all the time. Also last week I found it weird that he happened to take the same shuttle van I took. I catch him looking at me from the other floor he's on...I have never lead him on, the only thing I ever did was say good morning the elevator, as I do to everyone. He came in my office just 10 minutes ago and it freaked me out... He was friendly but I guess what bothers me is he acts like he knows me... He also confessed he didnt have a reason to be on my floor.. I do not want any of his attention…I also don’t want to go to HR and make a big stink…What do you think?

If it bothers you that much, then you probably have no choice but to tell him directly that "I assume that you mean well, and that you are probably a great guy, but I am uncomfortable having you around, since it seems unprofessional, it could hurt both our careers, and cause gossip" etc., etc., and that you want him to leave you alone (say it in a calm, professional tone -- no anger or sarcasm). Don't worry about sounding rude -- it is more important that you be clear so that there is no mistakes about what you mean. It helps if you make it sound like this is what is best for the both of you.

If that doesn't do it, then speak to your boss about it, and take it from there.
