Hey, people are people and always have been. And people sometimes do strange, strange things. I agree, anyone who wants to write one WHALE of a soap opera only needs to know their Old Testament. It's all there--sex, drugs, and rock and roll!
BUT don't forget, all of that was supposed to stop when Jesus came along. Remember He did the Sermon on the Mount, turning people's preconceptions on their heads. He'd say, "You say this or that, but I say (commandment.)" One of the things he said about sexual sin was that even if you look at a person lustfully, you've already *done* it in your mind/heart, so it's just as bad as doing it.
I agree about the Song of Solomon, it's obviously an erotic wedding night poem or song and people who try to spiritualise it crack me up. Although if someone told ME "Your hair is like a flock of goats" I wouldn't be pleased, as to me, goats are smelly and dirty!

In Genesis 5 : 3 -32, it tells of Adam having a Son named Seth when he was 150 years old, and when he was 800, he had sons and daughters. Adam lived 935 years.Seth had a son named Enosh (chapter 4:26). From chapter 5:5-32, it goes on to give the lineage of Adam, down to Noah and his three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. But, in chapter 6, God saw that man was becoming more & more wicked, and immoral, so he limited the years a man could live to 120, instead of way up tp 800 -900 years. The whole thing is, we don't know if Adam & eve were the only two people He created on the earth, He just used them to show that no matter if their environment is perfect(Eden), unless you obey God , and live by faith, sin will result, as you see it did. God did not condone the taking of multiple wives, and He was angry with Abraham for not waiting for God to produce Abraham's first son through His own working. Instead, Sarah & Abraham took matters into their own hands, and when he or any of us does that, only bad things result. All the evil and sexual immorality that went on in those days resulted because God chose to make man & woman with minds of their own, and just like today, bad choices result in sin, and then judgement from God. So, God did NOT ordain all the sin and debauchery in that day or this, but peoples' natures are naturally sinful, so that's why we need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to keep us from doing all those terrible things.

My husband and I had two sons and there was no "sex with their mother"..? How did you deduce that? They also had many other sons and daughters if you would read the rest of the story after Seth was born.
We Christians don't ignore incest in the Bible. Abraham going into Hagar into the story wasn't a sin in that culture or era, it was permitted and because of it, all the Ismaelites exist! But wrong is wrong and Eli was punished because of not reprimanding his sons for their sexual sin in the tabernacle. God didn't bless or condone sin back then any more than He does now.
Sin is "breaking of God's law". If there was no law, there was no sin..., got it?
Now we Christians live by grace and not law, else most of the population of Christians would die immediately like back when retribution was swift!
How'd you get so critical and how many real Christians do you know?
Get started all you want to, but the Song of Solomon is an allegory concerning the Lord and His church and it is obvious you know little of poetic allegorical speech.

Your understanding of every one of those thing is twisted.
God could have created more humans for Adam and Eves sons. Any incest in scripture was from rebellious believers or unbelievers and was never sanctioned by God.
It was an acceptable practice to have more than one wife in the Old Testament times. There was no such thing as the ungodly wife-swapping that goes on today.
If you followed up on Eli's sons you will find out that they were killed for their sin after being warned to turn from it.
Song of Solomon is an allegory depicting the love between God and His people.
You are also ignorant of the fact that a person who is not a Christian has no true understanding of God's word. Mere human intellect will never understand spiritual things.
The only way ou will ever get any reality from your study or observations is to get saved. God is willing to show you truth that will radically alter your intellectual capacity as a human.

It dose not say that the sons of Eve had sex with her.... it is very simple to figgure out that the laws against incest were not in force at that time... and there were perhaps many dozens of sons and daughters...as Adam and Eve lived many hundred years... and they all got togeather... you have to remember that God makes the Rules... you do not... and that is the way he set it up.... latter when the genetic pool got a bit deeper and the order of society required it... then the injuction against incest was put inplace.... no big deal.... and The Song of Solomon extoles the beauty of love between a man and a woman... what is wrong about that?.... as to the other.... if you read properly you will see that God took care of those who abused His law regarding sexual conduct.

Don't forget King Solomon. The guy had 700 wives and still needed another 300 Mistresses to fool around with on the side.

i'm a seventeen year previous senior female, and a Christian, too. And for my section i for my section recognize the undeniable fact which you have have been given stayed a virgin this long. of direction there is lots of opportunities to have intercourse, in spite of the undeniable fact that that is like the ingredient to do anymore is for men to work out how many women they are in a position to get to have intercourse with them, like for bragging rights, and that is disgusting. For one that is not secure, simply by fact of all of the ST D's which may be surpassed around, that is not trouble-free to the youngsters who're born and are seen 'injuries', or aborted.... that is not entering into maximum situations which you will spend the the remainder of your lifestyles with who you sleep with in severe college, so why not save it for somebody you will not have regrets with? Hebrews 13:4 – “Marriage ought to be commemorated with the aid of all, and the marriage mattress stored organic, for God will decide the adulterer and all of the sexually immoral.” You sound such as you're deff not a hundred% particular approximately desirous to have intercourse yet, and that i would not do it merely simply by fact which you're guy acquaintances think of you ought to, or you're curious. Virginity is between the main particular issues you components to the guy you marry, in spite of the undeniable fact that it ought to not appear like it anymore.. And as a woman, for my section i detect a guy who's a virgin plenty greater suited. i might experience so much less particular understanding i substitute into the 2d or 5th or despite the fact that. yet besides, it is how i've got faith, i'm hoping that helps. :)

naw... the Bible doesnt ignore or hide it... so i dont either.
Jewish writing is such that unless the context calls for it, females are not mentioned.
like many modern stories today. an event happens and those who observed are questioned. but not the whole family.
so. the two sons were only mentioned because it was an event that only involved them... their sibling rivalry.
so the sons didnt have sex with their mother... they had sex with their sisters.
if you're going to talk about it. get it right.
oh yeah. Abraham's wife's servant. she told her husband to go into her. how do you like that?
i'd never do it. i'll tell you that.
but Jewish notions were different in those days. dont ask me to explain it.. i agree with you.
yeah the sons of Eli were not godly. i agree there.
you didnt mention lots daughters, they got him drunk then jumped him not long after his wife had been turned to a pillar of salt.
nice huh?
the song of solomon book is extremely romantic. written by Solomon... who had many wives and concubines.

Adam and Eve had many, many children, they just aren't all mentioned in the Bible. Also, as far as the other questions, the culture of that day was much different that ours in 2007. There were many customs regarding widows, barren women, marriage and betrothal.

Actually, Genesis 4:17 states that Cain had a wife. So there was some additional creation in there that was not fully narrated.
