i just started running last wek, and i have a few questions im curious about.

1. I will start walking on the treadmill, then stop and stretch and get back on to job, and a little later in the evening, the next day even, my calves hurt... only muscle that does hurt.. how do I fix this? 2. I've been running for about a week, and when can I start to see a result? I'm 5"11 about 280-290. 3. Will drinking a lot of water help me lose weight quicker? 4. I try to run about 1.5-2miles 5days a week, going on the mill for about 20-25 minutes.... my goal is to run a 5k by july. Is this reasonable?? And... I seem to be eating less... it seems my stomach may be shrinking, is this reasonable?

If I have more I will update this, but this should do it for now.. Thanks in advance...

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Make sure you are warming up and cooling down when you are running. I walk on the treadmill 5 min. before and after. Also, make sure you are stretching correctly. You can probably search for running stretches online to get a better idea of what you can do... Now to answer your questions...
1. This could be a couple things. My guess is you are not running properly (yes, there is a right way). Get the book - Idiots guide to running (or jogging - I don't remember the exact title). It goes in depth about form. It may also me your shoes.
2. You will see results in a month or so.
3. Yes and no.... Yes because it keeps you full so you will eat less. No because I don't really think it helps you lose weight, but it is good for you!
4. Only if you start training for it now. Look online for training guides. They will tell you how to schedule you running.
5. You stomach is not shrinking... You probably are just keeping full with water.
