Vicodin is effective, but it's extremely addictive. You shouldn't take it for a long time.

Yes it is effective and safe if taken short term.It is an addictive drug which can be hard on your liver. If you have ongoing back pain try something that is easier on your system, like the Flexeril mentioned above. Or go to a pain clinic. If you have a doctor that is prescribing this to you on a regular basis , seek help elsewhere

Vicodin is meant to be used short term for severe back pain. It's effective in the very beginning, but it's been determined that the patient needs more and more of it to achieve the orignal results. You may also need to determine if you're allergic to codeine. Vicodin has been proven to be highly addictive and there are many other meds you could use rather than risk addiction. Ask your doctor for other possibilities.

Vicodin can be effective in reliving pain. It should not be used long term. It is safe, but does have addiction potential. So be careful, and only take it when you really need it. Also, because of its Tylenol content, you need to be careful not to take too much, because Tylenol, in excessive amounts is very bad for the liver.

It is effective and safe if used properly and not for an extended time. It can get addictive. Normal use for a short time is effective.

vicodin seems to work well for me,as long as you realize how addicting it can be.It's nice to be pain free but when there isn't any "real pain" or you just like the buzz it's time for other options. (i hurt my back when i was 16 and i am 32) flexeril is a good option but it makes me sleepy.

Having had several back injuries (I'm an EMT), I find that Flexeril works great for muscle spasms and Toradol works great for general back pain.

I do not take any medications that are narcotics. I won't even take Tylenol 3. No thanks.

vicodin is highly addictive. i recommend not using it. its like sex on ecstacy, once you've had it, you dont want the regular stuff. also, yes it does work, it keeps your mind off the pain, so if you want to play with fire, go ahead but bring a fire blanket and extra water.

STACEY,

VICODIN DOES NOTHING FOR THE ACTUAL PROBLEM, BUT BECAUSE IT IS A NARCOTIC IS JUST MAKES YOU NOT CARE MUCH FOR THE DISCOMFORT.
A MUCH BETTER MEDICINE IS IBUPROFEN, SUCH AS ADVIL. THIS IS A NON-STEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, WHICH THE VICODIN IS NOT. PLUS ANOTHER BENEFIT IS THAT ADVIL IS READILY AVAILABLE OTC AND DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR USE AS VICODIN.

yes it is safe. It comes in 5mg, 7.5mg, and 10mg. It will make you a little goofey though, and you shouldn't drink with it.
