anyone been on one? what did you think?

I went on one a few years ago thinking that it would be a great opportunity to explore the nature of spirituality. What it turned out to be was a thinly disguised recruitment campaign for Evangelical Christianity. I managed to baffle the people running the course though by accepting that I considered their beliefs to be valid enough, but it wasn't really for me. They expect a clear cut "Believe it or don't" response at the end!
To be fair on the creators of the Alpha Course, I personally think that I lucked out on the particular course I chose to attend. The course leader was awful! I don't honestly believe that they are all like that.
Try it, but see if you can talk to anyone who's attended a course at the church you are going to do the course at before you do

I've done it, and was asked to train to teach it.
If you're really unfamiliar with Christianity it gives a reasonably non-partisan presentation of the Christian message.
I found it very packaged, and not that open to handling debate and questions of any depth. (but that may well depend on the particular people running each course).
I'm tempted to call it the McDonald's of the evangelism world.

Yes out of curiosity to see what it was like.
Videos by a complete bunch of crackpots who need psychiatric treatment along with the gullible idiots who believe it.
Run a mile.

I think the course is very good for people who want to know more about Christianity or for new Christians who want to learn more about what it involves. They are very scriptural and non-denominational so you get a non-biased view.

no but strangely enough , I was just emailing someone from here today and was speaking about this
although it isnt my beliefs , they seem to do a lot of good
