There are many meanings for the word "jet".

Even in aviation, it could be a short form of a Jet engine or a Jet engined aircraft. Now what would the context be?

well, a jet is different from a prop plane in the fact a prop cuts through the air to generate thrust. Much like a air fan moves air. a jet is more of a compressing a bigger volume intake to a smaller exhaust using fuel and compressor fans. A jet moves an airplane much faster however is much slower to spool up or get that real power you need. a prop plane is much quicker with power but limitations with props make the planes slower. hope that helps

A forcefully ejected stream.

If you mean in aircraft terms, then it's an aircraft powered by a jet engine. A jet engine is a gas turbine.
