There are a number of factors that go into the *right* weight for a child. Prematurity is one of them. Many times it takes kids born so early a few years to *catch up*. My twins were born at 34 weeks 1 day. Alexis was born at 3lbs8oz and Cody was 4lbs8oz. At one year old, cody weighed in at a hefty 17 pounds, but alexis barely kept up to 12. With cody when you look at his growth chart(most peds keep one.) he has trended up, and in the 25% since he was 3 months old. That means he is a small kid, but gaining weight and healthy. With aleixs, she at 3 months was in the 5%, or tiny. Then she trneded down, first to the 3d below, and finally as far down as the 7th. THAT was not normal, and has since been adressed(she rests happily on the 5th% at 20 pounds, at 2.5 years old). My point is, if your child, on her growth chart, has steadily stayed at a certain point, even if it is a low point, a doctor might not worry if there are no other problems. IF on the other hand, your child stops growing, or starts trending down, thats a major red flag, and reason to be worried. There is no right weight. it depends on your childs growth curve, and what your ped would like to see!
Best of luck!!
*edit*
here is a lonk to what I am talking about. This chart is for boys, I am sure the site has one for girls.

My son was also a preemie, he was born at 24 weeks and weighed 1lb 9oz (my miracle baby). So to answer your question when he was 17 months old he weighed about 22lbs... now hes 3 and weighs 34lbs - who knew? LoL
But anyways, doctors always say that how much your baby weighs doesnt reflect how healthy he or she is. She may be thin or she may be chubby but shes still healthy. Kids grow differently, remember that... just because you may have a friend whos baby is the same age as yours and weighs more or less doesnt mean that your baby has to be that weight too... you know what i mean?
Hope i helped.

There is no right weight. as long as the child is gaining weight and not becoming over weight then there is no right weight for any child. i have a nephew who is 5yrs old and about 35lbs. he eats everything but just does not gain weight. i have a ten month son who is almost 24lbs. then there is a girl that was born on the same day who is about 18lbs. there are children in his daycare class that is older than him and he is bigger than them or the same size. every child is different, every child learns different. You should never compare your child with someone child because their family is built differently. if your family is made of small petite people then there is a chance to have small children.

My niece is 18 months old and weighs approximatly 23 pounds. It's hard to tell as kids are all different and grow at different speeds. Your best bet would be to talk to her doctor. He will be able to give you the very best answer.

Well, next month she goes for her 18 month well-child visit, so any concerns you have should be answered by her pediatrician. As long as her height and weight are good for one another, you have nothing to worry about. Wishing you all the best!!!

no such thing as normal, as long as they are following their weight curve then all is well, my 10 month old weighs 22lb which is heavy for her age but normal for her ( she is the size of a 18 month old ) so dont worry

preemies will tend to be smaller for the first few years of their lives, your should compare her size to babies who were born around her due date.

in accordance to docs you have to be somewhat underweight yet they don't seem to be suitable the two, Being healthy is maximum mandatory, as long as you devour nicely and pass out the waste nicely, sleep nicely and are energetic you're superb. Above point out which you're superb or no longer.
