Actually it depends upon the amount of education you have.. I would say it is average for someone with a post master's degree, and WOW for someone who has a high school diploma only...

It depends on what you are doing and where you live. $50,000 will get you a long way in southern Georgia, but will barely pay the rent if you live in Los Angeles. You can look up the median income for a single person, but it won't mean squat unless you compare it to the median income of people living wherever it is YOU are located!

It depends on how many hours you are working, how difficult the work is, and what area you live in.

For example, if you're making that for working 30 hours a week, sitting at a desk processing e-mails in the middle of Missouri, then yes, that's a lot.

If you're making that amount working 60 hours a week, working your a** off running all over the office and city, living in (or commuting to) the middle of the financial district of Manhattan, then no, that's not nearly enough.

So, it depends.

It could be a great starting salary if you don't live in the city, and if you are under 30 years old. If you are over 30, educated, with job experience I would say you need at least 75k to get by. If you have children 100k a year would be a nice livable salary.

all depends where you live. In downtown Manhattan, you'd probably starve to death. In a rural, prairie town... you'd probably live like a king. That's why these median and average figures are pretty meaningless.

It aint that much. I make more than that and it's still hard to afford a basic house, but then again if I didn't spend $300/week on booze and strippers I'd be in less of a pinch.

That's pretty decent. Median is around $35k - $40k in the US.

that is about the average, but by no means alot. It also depends on what field your in. I make about 140,000 a year, and that is low for my job compared to others in my same job position.

It's just above the average but not a lot.
More important is It a job you want to do and has it got prospects?
