find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

There is no starting age for worrying about your health first off.

As for your current weight, its not based on your age moreso as your highth and wieght. go to this website at wikapedia.com and check your statistics, although you may be worried about it 79 lbs doesnt sound that bad for a 10 yo female, i was 115 when i was 10yo male so i gather your size should be pretty much normal.

Don't worry about your weight.

Maybe you should try doing 50 sit ups a day or running. Do something minor everyday and in the long run it will pay off.

79 pounds is not fat for a ten year old. dont consider dieting so young because not eating right at your age can prevent you from growing to your proper height. you are fine just theway you are (and i mean it im not just saying that), trust me im in nursing
