Problem? Either the husband or person in house (at their address) is on the Sex offenders website. (name comes up on caller id as same name). I am opting not to return phone call which I have never done) as opposed to saying I'm not interested in doing business because of safety reasons.

You don't need to know the charge.
Thats his problem to deal with.
The bottom line is you don't want to do business and quite frankly do not owe them any explanation if you don't want.
It was he who did the crime so it is his baggage and not for you to worry about.

First find out what the offense was before freaking out. Do you know people get put on that list if they urinate in public?

If you are at any time uncomfortable with watching their dog, decline them as a customer.

If you are the owner of the business, you can say you are fully booked and cannot handle anymore customers at this time.

If this is someone wanting you to dog sit for them on the side, state that they will have to go through your boss as you will not take any business on the side. Inform your boss about who it is who asked this, not because of the sex offender list, but because of the offer to do business on the side, and see what he/she says.

Well, if your instincts tell you not to go, just return the call and when they get to specifics such as date and time, etc. say "oh I'm sorry I'm not available that day." If you work for a service, inform your supervisor of this matter and maybe they can send a male or find their own way of saying, "sorry we won't send a sitter to your home because...." Unless you work for youself, you shouldn't speak on behalf of the company.

It's kind of worrisome that they've called three times. It's definitely better to be safe than sorry. I would say if he continues to call you, to answer and tell him that you have to decline. You don't even specifically have to give a reason or an excuse. It's your right to decline your business especially if it could potentially effect your safety. You made the right call checking your clients!

First, what was the charge that got them on the list? Second, do you have children. If you really have reservations about this, just don't call back.

Do not call, do not go over there and do not work for them anymore. Trust your instinct, take no chances.
