Only if you're using them are they are intended. They are replacements. They are calorie heavy and you might not feel very satisfied after eating them. You may end up craving "real food".
If you pair them with snacks through the day you will just be consuming extra calories.
A healthy diet is a better choice.

Why don't you try to pack all of our meals for the next day the night before. Our bodies require nutrition via food and not liquids. Liquids break down too fast in the body and you will eat more then you think when you go to eat because you will feel so hungry. It takes work but the benefits work out in the end. If you really must eat the shakes and bars ensure that they contain the following: Shakes: 26g protein, 3g fat or less, 5g of carbs of less Bars: 20g of fat or less, 20g protein or more, 50g of carbs or less Not all bars and shakes are truly health. Some of the bars are worse then eating a snickers or other chocolate bar.

They assuage hunger, and that's about it.
The bars are synthetically sweetened blocks of material that is chemically similar to glue (read the label). It won't hurt you, and it will fill you up, but it is not "healthy" except as an aid to dieting.
The shakes are a nice treat, for the same reasons, but again are not "healthy."
Still, I lost 100 pounds eating the bars twice a day and a modest meal in the evening. They help.

Ummm, no.
Long-term,using these as your sole source of nutrition will damage your body. These are SUPPLEMENTS to a regular, healthy and BALANCED diet.
Maintain your weight by:
1. Exercise,. Boy, that's a new concept. They've only been discussing THAT for the last 10,000 years.
2. Eat less of the bad stuff.
Just STOP putting bad stuff in your mouth, and put less of the good stuff unless you are exercising. You don't need to look like Kate Moss either,eh? (Nasty!)
If you are curious enough to investigate these 'diets' tricks (there are no shortcuts - you know that), then you are smart enough to research food values on the Internet.
Reject 'bad' foods with the same reaction as if I had said,"Hey,eat this cigarette". Yuk? Yes - get that frame of mind.

If you pick the right ones they are very healthy. I use them and I have lost thirty six pounds in just over four months. I got some great advice from a nutritionist guy and he advised me what products to use and how to get the best from them. His advice was really good and he sourced the products for me too. Depending on your own particular situation would depend on what he advises, try www.myhealthabc.com, it will be the best thing you can do to lose weight safely and quickly. Good luck

NO, not really. First of all, it contains sugar and artificial flavor and color (most of them). Second, the label on the package does not necessary means what you are getting. FDA has no such law, so the company can put any label and you never know whats in the content. Vitamin company do the same, until something happens and they do a recall. Mean time they are making MILLIONS using us as a lab rabbit basically.

they are not really healthy.
e.g.protein bars- i would get one only after workout if there would be no other options.
they are processed food, ofcourse they have protein your body needs after workouts, but there are better options.
meal replacement bars - the same thing - only if there is absolutely no other option. fresh, unprocessed foods are much better for your body.
