some one let me use their office standard edition 2003, it said i have to have microsoft office 97, 2000, or xp on my machine, why didnt it download.

You have to buy Office, like the rest of us. If you're not willing to pay for something, stealing it shouldn't even be considered an option. You can download OpenOffice, which is a free, open-source, legal alternative to MS Office that has much of the same functionality, but MS Office has to be paid for.

That was very nice of the someone to abet you in an attempted crime. Buy the programs like the rest of us.

Because they have the 'upgrade' version, these version will look for previous installation, hence they are cheaper than the full version.

You want US to tell YOU how to commit a crime? Using bootlegged software is a crime.
