1) My Flash Player keeps disappearing. It shows in the ADD AND REMOVE PROGRAMS list but when I go onto sites that need it it says I don't have it or its out of date. If I try to download it from the Adobe website nothing happens.

2) If I try to open a .pdf link from a website it just shuts the browser page down.

3) If I try to download anything I get a message when it tries to install "Windows cannot access the specified device path of file. You do not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

4) My System Restore won't let me restore anything. It just says it hasn't worked and nothing has been changed.

I'm thinking of resetting my lappy to factory settings but wouldn't I need an XP disk for that? It was already on the lappy when I got it. I have a couple of disks that came with it...

*Amilo PRO Drivers and Utilities

All good answers.
Don't you need more than 1 CD recovery disc, no problem if it's a DVD, the minimum amount I've used is 3 discs & sometimes even 4 if you have extra devices fitted (graphics cards ect) make sure first before you run the restore.

Any computer retailer should be able to tell you.

You only need one installation disk to install Windows XP the systems restore are totally different.

There is a strong possibilty that your laptop has picked up a virus or three.
Before you do anything else I would suggest you switch off system restore then run it in safe mode and scan with antivirus and antispyware first.
Once these have finished remove any unwanted infected files etc and reboot.
If problems persist I would then consider a repair or re-post back here.

if there is nothing you want to keep on the pc then just pop the recovery disk in the cd/dvd rom and restart the pc when asked if you really want to do a complete recovery or install click yes and let it run.

if it does not run then you need to goto the bios settings by either pressing delete or f12 or f1 or f2 whilst rebooting the pc when in the bios settings goto bootup and put your cd rom to first bootup device then with the disk in restart your pc

If your laptop came with a "Restore" CD, then that is what I would do. Put that CD in the drive and restart you system. It will put everything back to "Factory Fresh", but this will also destroy all of your data. If you wish to save data, move it to an external drive.
