once I do? I thought it was given on the day of Pentecost specifically because of the movement of the Spirit was establishing the Church. Doesn't the same Holy Spirit that seals you at the time you are born again give you this power at that time?

when you receive Jesus as savior, you receive the holy spirit, at that time. what you are seeking is the baptism of the holy spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongue, not every one that receives the baptism in the holy spirit, receives the gift of speaking in tongues, tongues is one of the gifts of the holy spirit.and there are a lot of Christians that have never received the baptism of the holy spirit, and still have a strong effective witness, probably the most known is Billy Graham, also James Robinson had a marvelous ministry before he received the holy spirit. Healing is a gift from God and it si for all believers, mark 16;15 says and these signs will follow those that believe, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.

there is the gift of healing, along with other gifts of the spirit, but these are gifts, that are given to the Church for the edification of the church, and God or the holy spirit gives these to those according to his purpose, this is one of the gifts that I never received, and I really wanted it, so I spend hours praying to the lord for the gift of healing, and i finally received it. if you want a gift of the spirit, then seek and you shall find, memorize healing scripture, and speak the word, the power is in the word and the word will never fail

I Corinthians 13:8 - "Charity never fails, but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail, whether there be tongues they shall
cease, whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away."

Did prophecies fail? Did tongues cease? Did knowledge vanish away? All three have to be true to take this verse in context therefore tongues did not cease.

I Corinthians 12:29-30 - "Are all apostles? are all prophets?are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of Healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

The answer is an emphatic NO in every case. Therefore the gift of tongues is not a sign for all believers who are baptized in the Holy Spirit.

I Corinthians 12:11 - "But ALL these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit; dividing to every man severally AS HE WILL." -- From this scripture it is the Holy Spirit who decides
which gifts will be bestowed on which believer.

Study the Greek word structure and context before you deny this. A spiritual opinion irregardless of how long you have studied scripture will never be the basis for sound doctrine.
We all have very much to learn, and as a college professor told me in Bible college, "No man has all the knowledge on any subject at any time. - TO WHICH I ADD - So then we can all stand to learn more about what we know or WHAT WE THINK WE KNOW." To believe anything else is intolerant, dogmatic and bigoted.

1 Corinthians 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not:.........

Tongues is a gift of the Holy Ghost. Healing is also a gift.

I was able to discern spirits long before I spoke in tongues.

The better the witness you are depends on your testimony. How much of the Word of God do you have in you? What has God done for you?

It takes time sometime to receive all the gifts. No you don't receive it all at the same time. But often you will speak in tongues. But for some it may take awhile.

Read 1 Corinthians chapters 12, 13, & 14. These will help you with your questions.

If you read the various places in the bible about the gifts of the spirit you will notice that not everyone is given every gift. "some are given as apostles, some as teachers..." etc.

Corinthians also says that if you are given the gift of speaking in tongues that it is pretty much useless unless someone else is there who has the interpretation of tongues.

The definition of this gift is the ability to speak a language you have never learned. Some extremem charismatics claim that you have a secret spiritual language. Be very cautious of any teaching about "secret" things. This is too close to gnosticism. The fact is that this was a gift given to establish the church. It is not needed as readily at the moment. God still gives spiritual gifts. Look through 1 cor 13 to learn some of them. They are things such as teaching, mercy, encouragement, faith, etc. Get a good book on gifts as well.

There are different gifts of the Holy Spirit. I have several friends who speaks in tongue yet i don't and i have been baptized several times,.. lol maybe because i didn't ask for that particular gift. I asked for the gift of interpretation of tongues, word of wisdom and knowledge.

These are the spiritual gifts:
Word of Wisdom
Word of Knowledge
Faith
Healings
Working of miracles
Prophecy
Discernment of spirits
Speaking in tongues
Interpretation of tongues

There is no promise of this in the Bible, and while Christians disagree on the whole tongues issue, you have to remember that tongues at Pentecost were languages that people hearing understood so that they could believe in Christ. Today Christians babble nonsense and nobody understands anything. I went through all this, and I am very skeptical that tongues are for today, but if they are, it is not part of the normal Christian experience, nor should it be expected. All "power" resides in God, and he does the healings or whatever. You pray and trust in Him. You aren't a lesser Christian, nor do you lack anything if you have truly come to Jesus Christ. In fact, your witness is more powerful if you can live and proclaim the gospel without having any additional manifestations. Remember what Jesus told Thomas? "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29). In your case, "...have not spoken in tongues, yet faithfully witnesses."

Hello Migh, Like all Jesus' disciples (Jew and Gentile), I and all contributors of the church I'm in pray in tongues most often, it tumes you into God, it enables Him to minister for your demands in order that you "not ever thirst once more". (Acts two:four, 33, 39; 10:forty four-forty eight, Romans eight:26, one million Cor. 14:two, four and many others). It's an unlearned language that you do not realise, that is the complete factor - to get past your constrained know-how. God needs you to discuss with a assembly wherein you're going to pay attention two or three individuals do it as a signal to you. More than that he needs you to acquire His Spirit so you'll be able to proportion his glory on this existence as an alternative of being in lack of awareness spiritually, and lacking out on all God needs for you! .

Healing is about learning many aspects of the body, mind, spirit to take an active part in helping someone to heal themselves of their ailments. Why would it be handed to someone like a talent or gift of the spirit, without some study and understanding?
