100 Christians praying? That implies that these Christians think that they have to remind God that this child needs help. You know: God? That all-seeing entity? Who knows every little thing you do, every minute of every day? Guess He sometimes misses things and needs them pointed out after all, eh? Never mind that we all die by His design--so what's it to Him if this child dies? It's all part of the plan, right? If everything happens due to His plan... then by definition, even suffering is part of it as well. But 100 people are going to change His mind.

Nothing about prayer makes sense, whether there's a God or not. Bring in the Atheists.

I trust only a very few people with the health of my children and these people know what to expect if something should befall my children under their care, the very angels in heaven and hell would weep for their souls, I hope this would answer your question to some degree and these 100 Christians you spoke of would need pray for the souls/spirits of these poor individual.

I doubt there would ever be an either-or situation such as this. If my child were missing, I would be grateful for any and all assistance offered. If a Christian on the other side of the country couldn't join the search, I would thank him or her for the prayers. It would be about my child, and not religion or lack thereof.

100 Christians: "Dear God, please keep your lost lamb from lying. Let her know that only by telling the truth in a ditch may she find salvation through You."

10 Atheists: "Okay, there are fifteen ditches in the area. Is she in that one? No? What about that ditch? There she is! You, call an ambulance. Who knows CPR?"

Both! God will only help you if you do your part as well. You can't just lay back and rely on prayer or searching alone to help you when your in need.
