dont bother with head and shoulders it made my dandruff 10 times worse, some dandruff shampoos are highly perfumed to make them smell nice, but its the perfume that causes the ezcessive flaking, I use a tried and trusted family remedy, that does work and stops the itching within 24-48hrs, after washing the hair with shampoo only, rinse it thouroughly in clean water, take a 1 pint jug, put at least 1 fluid ounce of malt vinegar+top up with warm water pour over hair and scalp massaging the scalp gently, leave for a few seconds and rinse thouroughly. no your hair will not smell like a chip shop either, do this for about a week and your sis should start to notice an improvement in her scalp condition and she will have nice shiny hair too.

I also have dandruff, sometimes so bad i even have it after i wash my hair lol. But I use head and shoulders, or maybe you should try some shampoo from the pharmacy. I bought a bottle for $30 and it worked wonders for my dandruff.

1] buy a clarifying shampoo and use it - lather and rinse, twice, then rinse again.
2] don't use any other hair products, not even conditioner
3] scrub all combs, brushes, barettes, hairbands, etc.
4] after three shampoo days, re-assess hair. Buy shampoo/conditioner for your hair type - dandruff, oily, dry, etc.
5] eat a well balanced diet - lean protein, whole grains, dairy, lots of fruits and vegetables
6] drink 1/2 gallon of water a day
7] take a quality multivitamin with minerals every day - sometimes a little bit of one element makes a huge difference in your hair/skin
8] avoid fried, fast, and junk food - even diet junk food
9] if this doesn't start to work by two weeks, see a dermatologist

She needs to see her doc for a proper diagnsis and treatment. It could be seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff but until she knows for sure there is no way to say what she should do.

I have seborric dermatitis, which is basically psoriasis on the scalp insted of the skin. Medicated shampoos with salylic acid, tar or even hysdrocortizone creams work (depending on how bad her case is). If these shampoos or hydrocortizone doesn't work, i'd see a dermatologist

Try melaleuca shampoo. Melaleuca is a powerful anti-bacteria and anti-fungal agent. At the same time it is non-toxic to human beings, since you can brew tea out of it and drink it whatmore. Buy at melaleuca.com.
