I would like to know if online/mail ordination is legal, and if so, what is the most legitimate church/ministry to be ordained by.

It is like getting a "mail order" degree in anything. You pay the money, and you get the paper, but nobody is going to hire you with an on-line degree. Same with am online ordination. No church would hire you. The degree does not show any training or experience, but rather a lazy attitude and a lack of disciple to actually get the education you need. Is it legal? Yes. Will it do you any good? No.

Yes, it is, but nobody respects it. Legitimate ordination comes through a recognized church body. Baptist churches are usually easier to be ordained into, but even then, the church has to request it. If you want ordination just to do a friend's wedding or something, but you really aren't called by God to the ministry, then why seek legitimacy?

It is legal in all 50 states and most countries. As far as legitimate, any denomination and most non-denominational churches do not accept them as legit. They expect you do as the Bible says and "Study to show yourself approved."
I am Ordained through an on-line Ordination service so I can perform weddings, I am also Certified with the Assemblies of God and working to become Ordained.

Yes, you can be ordained online. That is not the point however. I know ordained ministers that have been ordained through Bible colleges and I know a few that have been ordained online. The point is this: Are you becoming ordained, just to be ordained? If so, it will mean nothing. A couple of the ordained ministers I know that went through the Bible college are far worse ministers then those I know who are ordained via the internet. Because their heart is not in it, and it's simple just a 'title' for them. It depends on you and you alone. Pray about it, ask God what His will is and what He will feel about it. Ultimately isn't that who we as Christians want to please? It doesn't matter what Man think..... It's what God thinks that counts! God Bless! Rev. Jim

I am not fond of denominations to begin with since the biblical
norm is "we are one body." So I do not recommend any single group over another.

Ordination first comes from God who recognizes us when He feels we are ready to represent Him. That ordination is then confirmed by those who know you personally and have been able to observe your character and conduct over a period of time sufficienct to declare your spiritual stability. The online ordination is a cheap imitation of the real thing.

I doubt that any online ordination would hold much weight in Heaven.

Legal yes, but don't expect an organized religion to accept it.

People get ordained on line for a myriad of reasons. They may want discounts on flights, they may want to open a wedding chapel in Reno, they may want to start their own religion such as then church of cats and dogs, or the church of butterflies. Fine and dandy.

There are legal recognitions as well as denominational church recognitions. It depends upon what you seek. It would appear you are seeking a short cut? Nothing worthwhile is attained by short cutting any process of study and evaluation.

Sure, it's legal, just like online college degrees are legal. The question is whether anyone will take them seriously and actually hire someone trained in this way.

In the United States, anything goes. The government doesn't really care who or what ordains you. You can ordain yourself.
