AAA membership is paid annually. Pay once, don't worry about it until your renewal next year.
Unlike another of the above responses, the annual membership fee varies depending on where you live and which level membership you sign up for. Using aaa.com will automatically direct you to your local club's website and this will allow you to find your annual rate.

I pay once a year, and you get a new card every two years or so.
