find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.

have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training

Drink 8 cups of water a day. Exercise, and do have an intake of 1500 to 2000 calories a day. Eat small portions, 4-6 times a day, thus elminating hunger pangs. 6 stone is a lot, so do not count on doing it overnight. It should take you approximately 1 year to lose that kind of weight in a healthy manner.
Exercise is key, you cannot do it on diet alone.
