sometimes entire stories get written in unreadable shortstuff... I mean, I understand things like cuz, and u2 and w8... but that's about it.. tell me, what's the fun in using that short hand, when no one can read it.........???? or if everyone skips it, because it takes twice as much effort to read?

Either because they are used to texting, in which you need to use as few characters as possible, or because they can't type, or a combination of the two.

Personally, I'm more disturbed they the questions that are typed out and still incomprehensible.

Before today's unlimited texting now offered on cell phone plans, a person paid for each character he typed. Hence, people learned to shorten words and a new language emerged. Now it isn't necessary to do that, but the shortened words save time, and many are use to using them.

For some it's just a bad habit, for others it's just pure laziness. I will often either skip those gibberish posts or at least ask the poster to please spell out their words...this isn't text messaging, there's plenty of space here and a fully keyboard versus a telephone keypad.

If someone can't be bothered to try to post with correct spelling and grammar (there's a spell check here to help them) then why should they expect people to take their frantic pleas for help seriously? They don't come across as serious when they are in text message or internet slang.

Part of it is a function of the pressure of texting to keep messages as short as possible. Kind of shows how redundant standard speech and writing is, eh?

maybe the person who is writing doesn't feel like writing out the whole thing and so they shorten it up. . . . . if you cant understand it maybe you should tell them so when they write you they will write it out for you if it really that important.. . .
