find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

The easiest diet out there to stick to is the 'old weight watchers'. There is a lot more to it than this, but what really makes the diet work, is that you eat very very small portions of whatever you want, only at mealtime. Then if you get hungry later, or are still hungry at mealtime fill yourself up on raw vegetables, carrots, lettuce, cucumber, whatever you like. Cut back some on meats and starches, but don't starve yourself. If you deny yourself any food, you'll only make yourself gorge on it later.
Good exercise, and a good way to sneak extra exercise in, park your car as far away from where you're going as is practical. Example, park a block or so from work, or in the very bottom of the mall parking lot. If you have to use a parking deck, park on top, then use the stairs, down and back up too.

Just start doing things that are more active, like walking more then progressing into more physical activities such as jogging, cycling.
But keeping your body guessing is the key, if you were to do the same excesses for a month your body will no longer be sore, because it bored. You need to find different things to do...
Running
Sports
Swimming (this is the best)
Cycling
Jump rope
Dancing (go clubbing and just dance, you'll be surprised)
But don't forget to eat better, the body seeks nutrition, take vitamins in the morning to start the day. Look into eating more fruits and veggies, salads....For one summer I had subway nearly every night for dinner after working out and felt great, I could notice the difference in how my clothes fit. So eating healthy is a major part of it, also stop drinking soda, juices that are high in sugar, drink more water, this will help clean out the kidneys. Don't take pills to help you loose weight, most of them are high in caffeine and are not healthy.
Try to find a friend that would like to join you, you can push each other. Another thing to look into is go to your local gym and find out how much it would cost for a personal trainer for about 6 weeks, they'll monitor your progress each week and give you a set of excesses to do...
Hope this helps, I know you'll reach your goal.

Do you have a Golden Corral or Ryan's or something similar near you? [all-you-can-eat]. Go there once-a-day (for lunch/early) and eat all you want, but go light on the desserts, and eat plenty of vegetables/fruit, along with the entrees, as well as drinking lots of water (NOT juice/pop/sugary beverages-I put a lemon in the water to help the taste). Get at least a couple of hours of (fairly strenuous) exercise (depends on how fit you are now) later on in the afternoon, then eat NOTHING else for the rest of the day-it takes a while for your system to get used to it, but I've lost over 20 pounds doing this. If you need a boost in the morning, eat a bowl of cereal, oatmeal, grits, a couple of eggs, or a burrito/hot pocket when you get up. This helps keep down the monotony factor. Keeping yourself hydrated is a KEY element-the MINIMUM [water] intake per day is your body weight in pounds, converted to ounces, divided by 2.

Of course you already knowheathly eating and exercise are important. Here are some tips for easy lifestyle changes. Start off by changing something small like giving up every kind of drink and only drinking water. This alone will help you lose weight and it will make you feel so much better. Next try to add extra fiber to your diet and eat less carbs...dont cut them out completely. Start your day with a fat burner meal like 1 slice of 100% whole wheat toast with 1 tbsp of peanut butter, low fat yogurt and 1 cup of strawberries.
As for exercise, strength train and do cardio. I love Taebo because it tones and its a great cardio workout. Be sure to change up your exercise program from time to time so you don't get bored.
Don't think of it as a diet because then it will never work. Think of it as a lifestyle change. You dont want to have to give up pizza forever but limit yourself to 2 slices a month instead of maybe every weekend. And think of exercise like you would oxygen...something you have to have.
you will be amazed how good you will feel!
