find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Eat more protein than carbs. Stay away from processed foods like Twinkies, potato chips, even those granola bars that they say are so good for you, they really aren't, they have a ton of carbs and sugar. Space out 6 or 7 meals during the day, so that your body has a continuous supply of nutrients that are available. Take a daily vitamin, even thought your body absorbs only about half of the nutrients and vitamins, at least it's better than what most people get. And I understand that you just had a baby, but getting enough sleep is another huge factor in losing weight. Eat more meant, mainly chicken, and fish. Avoid ground meats, those tend to have more fat, and more ingredients than just the regular steaks, or fillets that you get with the chicken and steaks. It's all about balance, between exercise, and food, and sleep.
I've lost over 150 pounds doing what I just told you about. It didn't happen overnight, but it worked.
Good luck!

I'm 5'4 and last week weighed 161.8.... I have tried every fad diet there is. Last week I went and talked to a physician at my local physician's weight loss center and started one of their plans the next morning.. I just weighed in today and I have lost 5 pounds!!! It's a start... and believe me ...I have a hectic lifestyle..they have different diet plans to suit your lifestyle... Since starting the plan.. I have not been hungry once. It's nice as they want you to weigh in a couple of time a week the first 2 to 3 weeks so you will see your results and stay motivated. It has helped keep me on track knowing someone else will be seeing the scale other than me. Well, this is just something to think about.

It took time to put on that weight, and it's going to take time to get it off. especially if you are breast feeding. Don't do anything drastic in your diet, just reduce portions by a few bites. And pop baby into the buggy and get out there walking! Pushing a baby buggy is great exercise, and is good for both of you.

I had to resort to weight watchers online and I lost 30 pounds in about 5 months. Just cut out fat, track your points and do some walking. That's all it took for me.
