That's it. If Timmy hasn't learned to stay away from wells, then he can stay there. I'm not praying to get him out for the 1,000th time.

I agree in some part with what I think you are really getting at. However, there have been some bonofide studies done on the power of prayer. i.e. http://www.plim.org/PrayerDeb.htm
If you do not believe in a Higher Power or God or Supreme Being then the concept of prayer would indeed seem quite silly to you. No offense intended here.
For those who find themselves a part of the greater family of God, they feel they can call upon any believer to pray for them and with them. It is perhaps the one common trait among believers that cannot be shut out by walls of hypocrisy or discrimination.

what is rediculus is thinking that a dog will save you from a well. sure he can run and warn others, but why not just skip that step? lets just pray for the man of steel or spidey to drop in a pick him out. cut out the middle dog and lil timmy is saved all the faster.
BTW prayer from ANYONE can be beneficial.

No it doesn't sound ridiculous to ask perfect strangers to pray you, family and friends. Pray in numbers does seem to help more then you think.

I just got a papercut on my lip (don't ask). Will you pray for me?
Seriously, I have no problem with prayer requests for serious things. I think sometimes people just need comfort if their loved ones are sick or things like that. I have no issue offering a word of comfort to them. I just don't like prayer requests for things like doing well on a job interview or some other mundane topic. I just skip them, though.

If you ask me, if little Timmy was dumb enough to fall down a well, he can stay there, thus making the gene pool that much stronger.

God doesn't help those who don't help themselves.
While that doesn't necessarily cancel charities and campaigns with good causes, you shouldn't just try and help everybody when they could help themselves but come begging strangers to do the hard work for them.
Pray for yourself and those around you. That would be enough prayer.

Ummm, yeaaaaah. that's what occurred. He accidently fell in a bunji pit made with the aid of a carniverous cat. Yep, yep, that's what occurred very nicely. permit me see if i will help Lassie get him out. And if Lassie would not come domicile, she's merely off helping somebody else.

Lassie's got this one covered on her own. She needs no prayers to help her do what she can do by herself.
