Is anybody else here seriously suprised about the lack of basic knowledge most people who contribute to this section seem to have? Everyone seems to be an "expert" - but some of the answers I have seen can be mis leading, unclear or simply wrong.
& why is it that everyone thinks there is a quick fix to either getting fit or loosing weight (ie whats the fastest way to get a six pack, or which diet is best to loose xx pounds in 2 weeks)
Having been involved in teaching sport at a high level for nearly 40 years I dispair sometimes

Yeah, its grade A pathetic. This is the last place people should turn to for medical advice. Half the answers are wrong, dangerous, or just plain stupid. I think you should have to list some sort of credentials before giving advice, or at least backup your answers with something other than an unqualified medical opinion...
And as far as the weight loss thing goes...im speechless. People need to get their lazy butts off the couch and workout. Oh yeah, and learn how to eat right. Its all laziness. Plain and simple.

I'm not surprised anymore after moderating many fitness forums on the net over the past 8 years. I'm used to some of the questions and many of the answers. I have no idea what is being taught in school systems these days but not much in terms of health and physical fitness. I see the same misinformation being spread that was incorrect when I was in HS and that was over 20 years ago and we had no Internet and the Information Age had not begun either.

It just american's way of having everything NOW! Impatient people. Thats why driving is so dangerous, too many impatient people on the road which creates more accidents.

No Offense (I am American) but we are becoming one of the most uneducated nations. Kids come on yahoo for homework answers that are easily found in their books. Les and less people know the Star Spangled Banner, yet alone the Pledge of Allegence. Some one was asked once to name COUNTRYS that start with T, and the peropl said Texas....... Sorry people America needs to change.

I think it's because Americans simply want a solution "right here, right now". People have to realize that what works for one person may not work for them. That's why it's a good idea to talk to a doctor before subscribing to any one regimen or remedy.

I'm serious surprised at the "diets" people use to lose weight: fruit, Special K and whatever pill has been on TV this week.

Welcome to America.

That's the way it is unfortunately. Everyone (not me) is after the quick fix, they don't want to hear that the best and basically only way to lose weight is through exercise and dieting. So they rather believe what they want to hear.

Its sad but thats how it is.
