Isn't it true good honest people were murdered by the early church because of a difference of opinion? Surely there must be records some where. But in history it's also true that those who lose don't get to put any rebuttal into the foot notes. And I know I'm going to get slapped by the rest of you but My personal veiw of Heresey is from the point od the guy accused. The church didn't want this power the secret of out Birth right to become widely know because the church wouldn't be able to control thoise who found their way through christ and had accepted their power as God's children. These people were labled and murdered and so were all those who shared their beliefs. Heritcs , and witches were murdered by the hundreds if not thousands in every christian nation. The peaceful Druids a life affirming order of PAGANS were a case of the Church being subtle they sent out false druid priests to pervert the druid religion.

A most interesting thought tom and the rest keep it comming. I've read the historic version of this as written by the winners. (I.E. The church) I am actually questioning the Words Heresy and Blasphemy in the context of how they have been misused.

I prefer Hersheys to heresies. Unfortunately, the Druids practiced widescale human sacrifice.
Heresy is rejecting what the authoritive Catholic Faith teaches about its teachings. One is free to stay or leave the faith now a days. The Church has every right and duty to define its terms of membership and to faithful to the truths that she professes to be true.

It sounds like you are struggling to find credible sources about the history of druidic religion, and while I vehemently oppose the practices of that religion, I will at least be fair and make some research suggestions.

When you use Google, try searching for phrases by enclosing the phrase in quotes:
"druidic practices"

You can exclude terms with a minus "-" sign, like this:
"druidic practices" -Christianity

You can limit your search to schools, colleges and university by adding site:.edu
"druidic practices" site:.edu

And finally, you can research scholarly works by using Google Scholar:
http://scholar.google.com

Having done this, however, you will need to establish the credibility of your sources, which Google Scholar can assist you with by showing how often the scholar has been cited, but you will have your work cut out for you to demonstrate author bias. This will be important to your credibility, and doing this will mean that you will need to compare and contrast sources that oppose and sources that support your view. A good research librarian is invaluable in any good research work, and a public library of any reasonable size should have one on staff.

Lastly, in order to be well received by those who oppose your view, like me, you will need to avoid sweeping generalizations and unsupported statements; document every source, without exception, and take time to acknowlege the merits of the opposing view lest you be seen as some kind of wild eyed, uneducated zealot. Careful, unemotional writing, or emotion carefully restrained and reserved until the case for your view has been built is absolutely critical; and a decent guide to research writing and essay writing can be checked out, once again, from a public library.

In closing, if you forget everything else I recommend, do consider your local library as a prime source of information; for centuries, libraries have been the keepers of the keys of knowlege and as such they are typically light years ahead of the average novice researcher; let them help you. I do not mind giving you this advice, since I am confident that the truth has no real enemy.

Blessings!
Tom

HERESY-is a religious belief that is opposed to the orthodox doctrines of a church. One would be opposed to the official or established views or doctrines.BLASPHEMY- basically means injurious, defamatory, or abusive speech and was used with reference to such speech whether directed against God or against humans(compare rev.16:11; Mt. 27:39)the english word is restricted to irrecerent or abusive speech against God and sacred things. It is thus the antihesis of words of worship directed to the Divine Being.. Also blasphemy includes the act of claiming attributes of God Act 12:21,22 or refers to one opposingthe operation of God;s spirit ...not enought room here to say what needs to be said.

"And I know I'm going to get slapped by the rest of you...."
On the contrary, I think the persecution of heretics was perhaps one of the biggest mistakes made by the church. Christianity was meant to be an appeal to the free will, not a forced "conversion". All that was accomplished was the filling of churches with lukewarm (at best) "Christians" who didn't truly believe what they were confessing.

If you look at the history of the church most of the rules made were to limit humans from being free... heresy is one means... anything disagreeing with the church was condemned to death... this was the most often excuse used during the witch hunts.... often heresy was used to dissuade from common sense...
