If you like the taste of both Mayonnaise and Miracle Whip, then go with Mayonnaise which has a thicker consistency, where as Miracle Whip is thinner and will make it somewhat runny.
However, Miracle Whip has way less fat than Mayonnaise.
Therefore, you have both pros and cons to using either product.

Personally Miracle Whip has a better flavor when making Potato Salad.I myself use ether one plus add a few extra ingredient's such as a small amount of mustard..and whatever else I think would add extra flavor..hope this helps..

Do you know why restaurant and deli potato salad tastes good ?
Because they use Mayonaise!
Most use Kraft but I prefer Hellmans

Consistency wise, it really doesn't make a difference. It all depends on which your taste buds prefer. Mine prefer Miracle Whip.

Both will do the task. But I like MW. I grew up on it too. My hubby hates it and only has mayo. Makes for an interesting cooking situation! :)
