You need to have your hemoglobin and ferritin levels checked with a blood test. If you're levels are normal, take 1 tablet a day, or 100% of the RDA.
If you're a man, too much iron could cause hemochromatosis

Your doc should have tested your blood after about a month to see if it was helping or not. Go back to your doc and get some labs done to find out whether the iron is working or not. Also it depends on what is causing your anemia as to how long you need to take iron. See your doc and get this taken care of.

Go for a second opinon. A lot of the symptoms that you are having do relate to anemia, but you could also have an underlying issue. Are you depressed or stressed...this may seem like a umbrella diagnosis for most, but this is a serious issue on your body and you might want to goto a MD to get it checked out. Ferrous Sulfate 325 , 1 tab three times daily, is a pretty descent dose of that medication .Be careful these can cause a lot of stomach and GI problems(take with food). You body takes time to balance itself out but you should be feeling better after 2 weeks if is a low Fe count. *Seek the advice of a medical professional always*

yes- my iron has always been low. I also had them prescribed and took them for a yr. But...another Dr. told me just take a one-a-day vitamin enhanced with iron and it will keep my levels healthy. I've done that for the last 9 yrs. I will say it's ALOT cheaper than the prescription and lasts longer as far as giving energy and such. Talk to your dr. and ask them if now that your system is regulated and coached to include iron if that would be acceptable. The vitamins are over-the counter so it would be alot easier on you.

Until your doc checks your levels and either lowers the dosage or takes you off of them completly. Never stop taking a med without your docs knowledge, the side effects from stopping the med may be more than you can imagine.

3 a day is a little excessive. If you're anemic it's possible you could be anemic for life. You can probably stop the iron pills and take a multivitamin with extra iron in it once a day.

Well, gee. Do you think you ought to see your doctor again and find out if you still need them? Nobody else can answer this question for you. You NEVER quit taking a prescribed medication without checking with your doctor.
