Just started reading the Bible closely. Very curios to understand the full meaning of this passage and many others as well.

The population of people would of been a lot by then as people lived for many generations and had many children who in turn had many children and they lived up typically up to 900 years life span.
Thousands of people would of populated the lands by the time Cain killed Abel.

Genesis 1 v 28 god blessed them and god said unto them. Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth.
This would indicate that the earth had, at one time already been fully formed and filled but something did away with most of it populations, some people/tribes already here from another time, and Cain was afraid of being consumed by these other tribes around at that time.

Ha ha - Webboffi - Brilliant. Allow me to quote:

The population of people would of been a lot by then as people lived for many generations typically up to 900 years.

Like its a scientific fact! Ha ha. It is my understanding that the average life span has been steadily increasing since that first chimp decided to walk upright and start talking. To say that people typically lived for 900 years is utter utter nonsense.

I do not care what the bible says, it is a series of stories made up to make us tow the line, like the bogeyman stories, only more fanciful.

Ridiculous.

Adam and Eve had other children* over a period of 800 years. The total number of children would be somewhere between '7' children** all the way up to '203' children***

Cain was afraid of another descendant of Adam (brother, sister, nephew, or niece) that would kill him.

Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters. Cain is worried about the rest of his relatives, siblings, nieces and nephews, etc. that will abhor him because of the heinous act he committed.

He certainly knew of God's command to be fruitful and multiply so he knew more people were coming and it is possible that one of his sisters was prepared to marry able and wanting to kill Cain.

Any one of his other syblings. Thanks for calling my attention to this since I can use this as a nail in the coffin of the dead argument about where Cain got his wife.

Maybe "the other people", the ones free from the original sin.

HEY I WONDER THAT SAME THING! that's a really interesting piece of scripture. it kinda contradicts itself, but i think it needs a little "out of the box" interpretation to really understand.

This is another spot where you have to "read into the bible".
Generally, that means make stuff up to fit what's written.
