Doctor shopping is illegal and you doctor will be obligated to report you. Just stop doing what you were doing and quit trying to create more drama in your life. It will just give you an excuse to reach for the drugs.

Tough deal. Everyone so far seems to think you are an addict. I don't know but you did mention doctors (plural) from whom you were getting redundant prescriptions. That could mean that your pain is under treated or you are becoming an addict or a combination of the two.

Your doctor currently thinks that he is giving you adequate care, whether you think so or not. When you tell him that you have been seeing other doctors to get the same pain meds that he prescribes he will think your an addict.
Rule number one is don't give addicts medication that is addictive. So unless you have a VERY serious illness like a gunshot wound that you can make bleed, he will not prescribe any more medication.

Its like walking a tight rope for a person who is in pain and an addict. You don't want to deny yourself the proper care in either circumstance. It might be best to find a new doctor, a pain management doctor. Or try this talk out on one of these other doctors you have been seeing and see how he responds.

It would be good to be real honest with yourself and analyze why you have been taking so much pain medicine. Therapy can help with both the relevant pain and addiction difficulties.

Best of luck to you.

Smiley is right, many pharmacies monitor drugs and your other doctors may contact your primary. You will get caught, if you come clean first your primary can set you up in pain management, they won't stop you cold turkey, you obviously have a problem, ask for the help, you need to realize that your body will build up a tolerance to any pain meds you're taking, then you will need more and more, eventually when you are in REAL pain, meds won't work for you and you could destroy your organs in the process, come clean now before you get caught.

First of all did you lie to him about getting them so that he would give you even more? If so than that would be indicative of a serious problem. And the odds of him giving you any more if that is the case are pretty slim to none. If you are in constant pain and the amount that he is giving you isnt working, ask for a referral to a Pain Clinic. They can get you on a pain med regimine that will stabilize the pain.

You have serious problem. You are addicted to the pain meds and are lying to feed your habit. This is illegal and your doctor should fire you as a patient. You need to confront this problem head on and get help now. Look up Narcotics Anonymous or commit yourself to a rehab somewhere. Good Luck

It sounds like you're addicted to pain medications and should seek some help for it. The fact that you're lying to 1 doctor to get pain medications from another is very concerning.

You're insurance company or pharmacy may be monitoring your use of pain medication and could notify your doctor before you. You should def come clean. And when he refuses to continue prescribing you pain meds, please realize that it is for your own good.

Good Luck.

THE BEST THING TO DO IS NOT GET ANY MORE MEDS FROM THE OTHER DOCS IF YOU FELL THAT YOU ARE ADDICTED TO THEM THEN YOU NEED TO LET HIM KNOW THAT THERE ARE MEDS THAT WILL HELP WITH THAT. I WOULD NOT TELL HIM BUT I ALSO WOULD NOT GET ANY MORE FROM THE OTHER DOCS. BECAUSE IF YOUR DOCTORS OFFICE PULLS A PROFILE FROM THE PHAM. THEN HE WILL NOT GIVE U ANY AND HE WILL REPORT IT TO THE OTHER DOCTORS ON THE PROFILE
