2 Timothy 4:3-4
3For the time is coming when people will not endure sound[a] teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

Yes I know it has happened for many years, but I am seeing it so much today-- for I was not alive back then! But to actually see this happen, it is so sad that people depart from the truth of God.

Absolutely. Everyone has their own version of God that fits nicely into what they already hold to be true rather than seeking out whole truth through His Word to find out what God is actually like.

Yes, and also 2nd Timothy 3:1-5 is very evident also. And for the ones on here that have said all these things have been taking place over the centuries, this may be true, however, for the FINAL judgement and the true evidence that God destroys this wicked system, and repalce it with His own Kingdom for eternity, we can read in Luke 17:22-30, Then he said to the disciples: "Days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man (JESUS) but you will not see (it). And people will say to you, 'See there!' or 'See here!'. Do not go out and chase after them. For even as the lightning, by it's flashing, shines from one part under heaven to another part under heaven, so the Son of man will be. First however, he must undergo many sufferings, and be rejected by this generation. Moreover, JUST AS IT OCCURED IN THE DAYS OF NOAH, so it will be also, in the days of the Son of man. they were eating, they were drinking, men were marrying, women were being given in marriage, until that day when Noah entered into the ark, and the flood arrived and destroyed them all. Likewise, just as it occured in the days of Lot, they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building. But on the day that Lot came out of Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven and destroyed them all. The same way it will be on that day when the Son of man is to be revealed". What that says to me is that (many) people of this generation will continue on going about their lives with NO regard to Gods warning, just like in those days recorded in the Bible for Noahs and Lots time. But no one will be able to say that they were'nt warned first. Another parable that describes how people would be in the last days of this wicked system was to compare people to "sheeps and goats" (Mathew 25:32) I'd rather be meek and mild and teachable like a sheep, than stubborn and obstinate like a goat any day!

Amazing! Finally, some scripture that makes sense! Of course, I'm sure you will think I've got it backwards. Nevertheless, it makes perfect sense if you assume "sound teaching" is science education, "teachers to suit their passions" are fundamentalist preachers, "truth" is scientific theory, and "myth" is Christianity.

Doesn't it seem obvious that this particular scripture can be interpreted to mean anything the reader wishes? Such ambiguity is characteristic of much "ancient wisdom." Frankly, it reminds me of a typical horoscope.

You choose to look with the bias of your belief system and apply it's teachings to everyone whether or not they believe. Your teachings are not applicable to those who have beliefs other than christianity so no I do not see that.

Where is the empirical proof of what is stated above is true? How do you know it is not you who 'wander off into myths'? You have faith that you don't and that is fine but don't judge others by what you believe because it is your path not theirs.

No I find more people are leaving organized religion and learning the truth for themselves. They don't have to believe in a truth that has been other peoples for too long.

People are beginning to think for themselves. They are searching and finding the their truth. They are leaving the myth behind.

If you have itchy ears there are some creams that work, apparently. Hope it isn't too uncomfortable and clears up soon.

Oh, or are you perhaps talking about the people who resolutely refuse to listen to learned people explaining to them the soundly-tested tenets of science or to look at the mountains of evidence in their favour, and who instead wander off into a wordview of bronze-age myth and superstition? I hate it when that happens too.

Yes. I'm sure that's always been true, but I think the closer we come to the return of Jesus, the more prevalent it becomes. It is rampant today, and that tells me Jesus' return is drawing very near. The signs are all around us.

Yeah - in other words, everybody who happens to disagree with your cute little antiquated cult mythological worldview is deluded, on the evidence of a passage cherry-picked from your antiquated cult mythological textbook.

You do NOT have a monopoly on truth. What you have is a stubborn, blockheaded insistence on notorious lies in the face of all evidence to the contrary. So go ahead and attack people from within your womb of bigotry and ignorance for daring to think for themselves. Guess who I feel sorry for?
