I'm 14 years of age, but i dont look it, and i surely dont act it. I get treated older, and im very independent. But recently i have been talking, and thinking about dating this kid who just turned 18. All the men i've dated have been older then me 17 mainly. And i've known this kid since i was little, and im reallyreally good friends with him. My parents also know him, and his family. His family basically considers me one of there daughters because im so close with all of them. They dont see anything wrong with us dating, nor do my parents. But i was just wondering if it was illegal or such?
I also read in alot of places and have been told its only illegal if they are over 4 years old than you.
Help please, Oh i also live in Pennslyvania :]
Thanks.

In most states, the law allows it if you are over 16. I believe PA is one of them. But only if the other person is less than four years older than you. Ohio, where I live is like that.
So you would be too young, legally speaking, to date him without risking him getting in trouble. There are many ways trouble can come, not just from one set of parents having an issue with it. When trouble does come, and it will at least a little, the police usually will not pursue things if your parents do not wish to. But, they (your parents) might not wish to risk having it all happen a second time and force you to split for at least until you are 16.
It's the question of how much older you are building up to, really. Clearly you are sexy enough to interest older boys. That means you interest older men as well. And since it sounds like you have dated for one, at least, and perhaps more — two or so is my guess — and likely ratcheted up the age ladder as you became aware the older boy (each time) was interested, it seems incredibly likely that as soon as you have proof of a grown man being interested, you will lose interest in the 18yo boy and date the man.
That, I assure you, will be illegal.
Since I'm sure you will do it, the rest of this is kind of like teaching a child how to handle a burn. One is not telling the 2yo to burn himself on the stove, just knowing it will happen and teaching him how to minimize the bad.
Go ahead with the 18yo. Learn how to act over 18, being careful to keep the act up no matter what. This will serve you in good stead with the grown men you will date. If you cannot hold the act, and cannot make it good, then they will fear being with you except in private. That leads to nothing but sex and risking violence because you either acquiesce to that or they won't see you because of fear. So the better you do the act, the better you hold it, the more you can be in the open, enjoying life and the kind of dating fun grown men can provide.
And after all, except for learning a hundred fantastic ways your body can provide pleasure, what do you want to be with a grown man for? (Well, I guess you could want to make a study of all the different kinds of penis there are out there...) So pick clothes a somewhat tasteful 19yo would, learn to act slightly adult, never talk about school (is there any better giveaway for a girl pretending to be grown??), and learn the degree to which those girls act slutty vs. being seductive. There is a huge difference, for adults.
And remember, there's no reason why you can't have a few condoms in your purse. Learn to put them on a man. Or you're gonna have two kids and more diseases before you're 18.
Good luck darlin'.

The age of consent concerning personal relationships of minors is 14 +. However, the state has a Statutory Sexual Assault law that applies to anyone under 16 that has consensual sexual relations with a person (either gender) four or more years older. This would mean until you turn 18, it's hands off! because regardless of your parents approval you...or rather he would still be considered breaking the law and could be arrested.
Not to mention...do you really think he'd want to take a 14-year old to his prom? Let's say he goes off to school, do you honestly think he's going to wait for you when he has an abundance of legal age females to go out/sleep with? And when he turns 21 and can drink legally and go out to bars, you'll just be 17 which means, he goes out without you if he wants to go clubbing. Not to mention that he can't take you out of the state!
Frankly, I'd have to question your parents judgment for allowing their child (and you are a child despite the fact that YOU get treated as if you are older) to date a grown man!

depending on your state it may not be illegal, i do believe that PA is 4 years apart - but it is very stupid for you. Start acting and dressing your age, you are 14 and should be enjoying your childhood!! Chances of an 18 year old having a serious relationship with a 14 year old is very slim, he will probably just use you for sex, and even if you last now, when he turns 21 and you are only 18 he will leave you!
---Age gaps. Along with raising the age of the minor, North Carolina and Pennsylvania also
imposed age gaps. If the minor is above a certain age, a crime is committed only if the
defendant is a specified number of years older than the minor (5 years in North Carolina
and 4 years in Pennsylvania).

well cause they are 18 and you are under, the time period between ages doesn't apply to you I think...but I'm not sure. But I think it's less than 4 years...it's been a while since I've heard it.
But yes it is illegal....so think about people around you if you go out publicly dating them. Someone could turn you in, do you have enemies? If your parents are OK with it and give their consent then I don't think you should have much a problem if you really wanted to date.
But think really hard if you decide you want to have sex with them...at 14, are you prepared to face the consequences of a potentional pregnancy?

I certainly hope this 18 year old has more sense than you do and understands that he can go to prison and get labled a sex offender for LIFE if he so much as lays a finger on you. It would not take your parent's complaining as any legal officer can file charges if the situation arises, the law is the law.
At 14 you are too young to be seriously dating anyone for any reason. I am surprised at your parents but country folk and those with less education often see these issues differently.
A girl your age should be concentrating on enjoying her teen years and her schooling so that she can become well-educated and not feel that she has to date boys to be validated..or to be married and have babies..there is more to life for young women these days.
I don't care how you look or act, you are 14 years old and have no business contemplating any kind of dating relationship PERIOD.

Its not illegal to date, but sex is definitely illegal and if your parents hate it enough he can get into serious trouble. Plus statutory rape is a sexual offense...so that could mess up his life when he has to register as such.
You may not look or act 14 but there really is no reason to rush these things. (I know you hear that all the times but thats because its true!) Oh and I would seriously question the intentions of someone who's old enough to be in college and know better...

While it's not illegal to go out and see a movie or go to a restaurant together, being intimate together is altogether a different thing.
The age of consent in Pennsylvania is 16 so you are unable to legally consent to sex regardless of the age of the other person and he at 18 is considered an adult so he can be convicted of statutory rape even if you swear you wanted it also.
Even if no sex occurs it's dangerous for him to date you since even the accusation can lead to him being arrested charged and you being submitted to an exam to see if you have had sex.

If you are so independent as you say you are, then does it matter if it's illegal or not to date some one who is older than you...But on the real, you are only 14 years of age, who thinks 17 year olds boys are men. They are only children just like you are...Stop rushing to be an adult and enjoy your teen years, cause once they are gone they are gone. They dont come back...

it is illegal to have sex with an 18 year old or older.. they can get arrested for that, or charged.
also- there isn't anything wrong (dealing with the law) that says you can't date people 4 years older then you.. that part doesn't matter. what matters is, is the age you both are and if you are sexually active with this guy.
for me personally.. i wouldn't date anyone that much older or younger than me just because i wouldn't feel that i really related to them at all- ya know?? but if you two work out, then why not go for it..
good luck, but be careful ok?
