Meditation describes a state of concentrated attention on some object of thought or awareness. It usually involves turning the attention inward to the mind itself. Meditation is often recognized as a component of Eastern religions, where it has been practiced for over 5,000 years.

This depends on what context you are speaking of. If you are talking about the Jewish Old Testament usage of the word meditation, there were two different Hebrew words translated "meditate." One was always used in a sense which meant to fill the mind, to muse to ponder. This was generally used in connection with the nature of God, the goodness of God, His acts, and mercy etc.
The other word meant something along the lines of mutter while thinking. This was generally used of the Word of God and is how the Hebrews memorized scripture: by sing song chanting.
As for having the same meaning, I can identify the word meditación and know that it translates to meditate, but I can't tell you whether or not it has the same connotations beyond the fact that it has the same root source: latin.
Hope this helps!

Meditation can mean different things to different people. To me, it is getting my mind quite, total relaxation, and looking at the blessings I have been given. Sometimes I will write a list out of things I am grateful for to redirect my thoughts if they are on a negative.
