I have but it was when I had my wisdom teeth extracted. It costs a lot more and sometimes insurance won't pay for it so you'll have a huge bill. Unless you have lots of money or you are 100% sure that insurance will cover it, I wouldn't go with sedation for cleanings or fillings. If you have to have your wisdom teeth removed or numerous root canals then I'd say yeah, go with the sedation.

With sedation they gave me an IV and I just drifted off. When the wisdom tooth procedure was over I woke up in a separate room and the nurse/dental assistant was there with me. My husband had to drive me home because I was so groggy.

If you get sedation plan on an hour worth of prep before your precedure, and an hour after the procedure before they let you go home. You'll have to have someone there waiting for you the whole time to drive you home.

Good Luck!!!

I assisted in the OR with a sedation dentist for several years. You will be very comfortable. Go to sleep and when you wake up your teeth are fixed. If you need any crowns done you will have to return to put the permanent ones on but that's a piece of cake. No shots, no drilling, just pop the temporary one off and cement the new one on. You'll be so happy you did this that you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

I have used a sedation dentist frequently, and it is marvelous, just wish they weren't so expensive.
