and is the amount of time you can eat the same as until you can drink?

If you had a composite filling placed ( white one ) you can eat on it right away ( that is after the novacaine wears off which is usually 2-3 hours )
If you had an amalgam filling placed we usually recommend chewing on the opposite side for the rest of the day...as it takes longer to fully harden...
As far as drinking goes...you can do that right away...just be careful in public places, since you may be a dribbling fool until the novacaine wears off...:-)
Hope this helps!

I have a mouth full of fillings and I eat right after the numbing wears off. And drink while it's numb. No problems. Good luck!

you can drink pretty much right after, just be careful not to drool on yourself.

as for eating, wait until the novocain or numbness wear off so you dont bite down on your lip or cheek

You can eat as soon as the numbness wears off.
