Three causes: biological causes, psychological causes et social causes.
The modern way of life is suspected for example for schizophrenia. In emerging countries, schizophrenia ends more often than in developped country. Historicist have shown that the industrial revolution was caracterised by an increase of schizophrenia. So your idea is right, but modern way of live is not the only cause. To explain schizophrenia, biogical causes are too efficient: the decrease of polyo or other deseases is correlative with the decrease of schizophrenia in developped country since 40 years.

Yes, to some extent, particularly in our hurry, hurry world where we leave no time for fun and relaxation.
Genetics, environment, trauma, and drugs are among a few of the causal situations that determine the development of mental ILLNESS. A mental illness is no different from a physical illness, its very real and has very real causes.

it is not the modern way of life. Depression, bi-polar disorder, anxiety disorders can be traced as far back as biblical days. We talk about it a lot more now than we have in the past and some people wear their diagnosis as a badge

for one thing, i do not think that your passing out connects to your depression. my boyfriend is very thin like you hes 5'10 and like 139 and he is very queezy as well. he cannot watch bloody gros movies without getting lightheaded, he also passed out during health class in highschool during a video about circumcision, he CANNOT get blood taken out, he passes out and is whishy washy and weak for the rest of the day and hes grown man now (26) he just is very weak when it comes to that stuff, some pple just are. so yeah in that aspect ur absolutley normal...to prevent from passing out talk to ur school nurse or have ur parents talk to ur teachers perhaps theyl let u leave the room for certain things. umm depression all comes from b ieng at teenager. i remember being 16 (im 21 now so not long ago) and one day id be in a deep depressiona nd feel like the world hated me and after 2 days i was happy as ever. ur hormones are crazy when ur 16, i know it sounds stupid but thats what it is...also i hope ur ear doesnt get infected, i had a friend do the same thing to me in highschool and mine got CRAZY INFECTED it hurt soo bad. so put lots of ice on it and clean it with rubbing alcohol. ...and no u do not have a mental disease. crazy people dont KNOW or even think they are crazy =] good luck with everything and feel better - if you must, go to ur doctor and hell check everything out ur fine tho =]

Environment + heriditary factors = mental illness.
Luck of the draw it is... but fortunately modern medicine is in your favor and we have laws now to protect one from abuse. Mental disease has always been around and always will be and understanding it leads to medical intervention, patience and acceptance.

Alot of things cause mental diseases. Most commonly it is from a childhood trauma or accident. But it is also very likely it can be caused by genetics.
