In a rainbow, raindrops in the air act as tiny prisms. Light enters the raindrop, reflects off of the side of the drop and exits. In the process, it is broken into a spectrum just like it is in a triangular glass prism.

Thats the sum of a scientific explanation. Do you accept this or do you simply believe that "God did it"?

If you believe the scientific view then you are forced to accept that rainbows happen after every rainfall, therefore rainbows existed before "the flood". Ultimately saying that the scripture in the bible quoting god about rainbows being a "promise to never flood the world again" is not accurate.

And taking it one step further...Proves that the bible is just another primative writing of cavemen and overly active imaginations.

God made the rainbow as a covenant with Noah

Genesis 9: 12-14)
"And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds"

Or, it could be that it had never rained before up until that point, hence the rainbow being the first one. If God is God, then he made it so that raindrops act like tiny prisms, he made light, and he made the light spectrum, then he made rainbows.

Because there's a scientific explanation does not mean that God is not responsible. I would tend to say that God usually follows his own laws of physics, since he WROTE the laws of physics.

God made you too. But I can come up with a nice graphic scientific explanation of how your parents forced you to come into existence.

I fully accept the scientific explanation. God didn't make the rainbow......god made the elemental things that interact together to form complexed systems which we marvel at........like the rainbow. Science, after all, is an attempt by man to explain God's wonders.......and i think that's kinda cool. And the problem is that you take the bible too literally.

Disagree with your conclusion. There was no 'rain' before thye flood (read a Bible).
God apparently caused the raindrops to act like a prism.

I believe the rainbow is a direct promise from God to show people His promise that He will not flood the entire earth again. I think the scientific explaination came about while people were trying to explain how something so beautiful came into existance so they could show there was no God. In all reality what they proved was that there is!

I actually heard a preacher say once that there wasn't rain before the flood. It was all in the atmosphere. Since there was no rain, rainbows were impossible before the flood. yup.

Answers: In WESTERN societies, black is associated with funerals and other "serious" events -- it also has an association with "evil" in some sects. In EASTERN cultures (including India, China and Japan), white is the color worn to funerals. In the case of my own mother's funeral we honored her request that none of her family wear black by going with the Indian custom of wearing white (she hadn't thought to forbid that too). The one person who did wear black was a godson who did not find out in advance. However since he looked good in the color, we didn't think my mother would mind -- as she had also made an exception for my father (who predeceased her) for that reason

There's this whole thing about a water canopy, no rain on earth until the flood, and this mist that watered the plants. Freaky. =0)

Edit: See?

Bible and Science can never walk together... They are mutually contradicting. Every one including the belivers and non belivers are sure of it...

Even logic doesn't go along with bible stories, which the followers blindly believe as all truth...
