First of all, yes, fruit and veggies are both full of carbs. Secondly, carbs are the only nutrient your brain can use to function. Not eating carbs WILL make you sick...the man who came up with the Atkins diet died at a young age of a heart attack, you know? You only lose weight because your body becomes starved and, well, essentially begins eating itself.

Just think of it this way...do you REALLY think eating a steak wrapped in bacon could possibly be healthier for you then a salad with light dressing?

Just eat balanced meals, drink plenty of water (Ice cold to give your metabolism a boost) and excersize. There are websites that can help you keep track of your calorie intake and how much you burn...my personal favorite is www.sparkpeople.com but there are many out there if that doesnt suit your tastes

My basic understanding of it is this. "Bad" carbs are things from processed fake "foods", like white rice, potato chips, white bread, anything with enriched flour. "Good" carbs are things whole wheat bread, oats, fruits, veggies, etc. Anything that is as close to as what God made it, not something that came from a chemestry lab.

I never understood the Atkins diet because it says to stay away from fruits and veggies. I'm no expert, but I would go for a potato over potoat chips or French fries. An apple or a banana or any fruit makes for a great snack. Yeah, bananas might be high in sugar, but I would rather have the natural sugar than that in something like yogurt, a candy bar, a Hosetess snack (also bad carbs), etc.

I hope this helps.

Yes fruits do have alot of carbs, some more than others. If your body is sensitive to carbs(if you notice that when you have alot of them you gain weight) I would try to have more veggies than fruits. Another thing you could do is take in more protein to counter act the carbs you are having. Try replacing regualr pasta with whole grain pasta. Eat more fish and chicken than red meat. Eat veggies without ranch, if you must dip them find a low fat/fat free dressing. Those things will really help keep your diet on track and help build more lean muscle so that you can burn more fat.

They do but not as much and they are good carbs; the carbs that give you energy. No matter what you need carbs in your diet, cause that's how you get your booast. Although you have to avoid the bad carbs such as white bread. Good carbs, are carbs like whole wheat bread.
