I am a 20 year old female and I usually get 8-10 hours of sleep a night and when I wake up I just don't want to get up and I'm VERY tired all day. I'm very active - I'm a youth program assistant and I play softball so I'm always running or doing something. But over the last 4 or 5 months I just haven't been the same. I also have trouble focusing, I just kind of stare off.

I'm worried if I go to a doctor they will tell me I'm crazy and nothing is wrong with me.

Can anyone tell me what the problem may be and what type of doctor I need to go to and what should I say?

Thank you SOO much!

you need to go see just a regular MD.. have some labs drawn.. sounds to me like you might be anemic...

I agree that it is something medical or nutritional,as mentioned hypothyroidism can certianly make you feel that way,as well as low potassium levels ,low iron and a host of other things, rule out the possible physical causes before you look at any psycological factors ,i am willing to bet it is something internal...have a full blood panel done and go from there.I would start with a family doctor or an endocronoligist.

It's OK to go to a Dr. Ask for bloodwork, which I'm sure they'll do anyway. Just because you're young doesn't mean that you should ignore or try to guess about your health. It could be many things and they will try to rule out certain things and hopefully get you feeling better. Don't give up. If that Dr doesn't get to the bottom of it, then go to another. Good luck.

There are lots of things that could contribute to feeling tired.
Anemia, stress, depression, poor diet for starters.
A doctor can run tests and give you an accurate assessment of your overall health. If there is nothing physically wrong, you might just need to cut back on your activity to allow time for introspection. We all need down time.

Good Luck.

It could be something as simple as your iron being low. Maybe you could be a little down (depressed). Some doctors will just blow the question off if they can't find a quick answer. But be carefull because it could even be something wrong with your heart (mvp for example) that isn't easy to catch when doing exames.

Could be as simple as a slow thyroid, which will make you tired, gain weight, and often depressed....you need a basic blood panel, and find out also if you are for instance enemic...they can tell so much...you might just need potassium as simple as that. I don't think it is anything to worry about, that a basic blood panel can't find and cure!

Go to an Internal Medicine doctor. They can do some simple blood tests. You may have a thyroid problem or something else going on. If you do, it shouldn't be hard to figure it out.

Don't stress about going to the doctors. Just go to a regular family doctor to start off with then go from there. It could be something as simple as modifying your diet.

Sounds like a mild form of depression or maybe take a multivitamin. Ask your doctor, that's what they're there for!
