I know that nowadays coffins are sealed to prevent graverobbing, but I don't know any exact details. Any information would be helpful, even if it's just from Six Feet Under.

They definitely are no longer sealed to prevent graverobbers. Graverobbing hasn't occured in decades. They are "sealed" right before the funeral. There is something called a gasket (which is made of rubber) on the casket, and when the lid meets the base and is cranked shut, it creates a seal. At the cemetery, the casket is placed into a large concrete vault, which the dawn of vaults more or less made graverobbing extinct. The lid of a vault literally weighs a ton, therefore there is no chance of graverobbing anyways. And there is no metal plate placed over the casket, I'm not sure where that person came up with that. Take care!

Caskets are sealed just before the burial, there are latches on the lip which are usually sealed with something like a bolt with a handle you turn to tighten.

if it is a open casket showing then after the funeral they seal it, they also seal it in the ground with a big iron plate to prevent grave robbing
