I have Windows XP and have had for well over 4 years. So far, it's the best Windows operating system I've ever used, and I go back to the days of DOS, if you know what that is. I used to work for a company who did much of the Beta testing for Microsoft so I learned on each new operating system. I also learned not to jump into a new one until it has been on the market and operating for at least a year. It isn't proven until then, and they are still working the bugs out.

First, I have Windows XP Professional and have not used, but have seen reviews and benchmarks, for Windows Vista.

In my opinion, Microsoft Windows XP is currently better than Microsoft Windows Vista for the following reasons:

- better application support
- larger software base
- more mature platform (years of bug fixes/patches already in place)
- greater acceptance by PC users (both personal and business environments)

MS Windows Vista may reach that point but I don't think it is there today.

I just got a new computer with Windows Vista on it. I've only been using it for a couple of weeks and I already like it way better than XP. It's just as easy to navigate, but there are a few extra features that make it better for me.
