I was taught that a drunk person speaks with a sober mind - all of the stuff that was hidden in his heart and he didn't have the bravo, guts or was willing to say - the alcohol has a way of breaking all of their inhibitions and they would say what they feel and or what they have thought for awhile and never would say when sober.

This is why I seldom drink!
Well, now, it seems to me that since drinking only really disinhibits you from doing and saying those things you would do and say anyway, of course, true feelings are coming out.
However!!!!
There is a large body of social research that supports the notion that groupthink and mob behavior and basic social influences do indeed exert themselves upon people. So, being drunk might also increase a person's likelihood to act on group impulses precisely because their self-control is lowered.
Too many studies and not enough exact sources to cite... but see this question I answered... to tell you to the truth, I may have stuck to the first part of this answer had I not just looked at this other question. So, if I'm influenced by recent experience while sober, imagine how esily influenced a person who's drunk really is!

It depends on WHO the drunk is talking too.
If the drunk is talking to a cop....He aint telling the truth!!!
"No sir ociffer, I only had a couple of beers!"
Or....
If the drunk is talking to the UGLIEST girl in the bar at closing time... He aint tellin the truth again!!!
"Dahlin, betweenst your thighs your booty lies,uh uh I mean between your eyes your beauty lies."
It is when the poor drunk wakes up in the morning that their true feelings come out. That's where the term 'coyote ugly' came from!
and by the way....who's counting?
Drink up Shriner!

While I do think that you might say things you regret or never meant to say when you were drunk, I do think that if there weren't a grain of truth in those feelings somewhere, you wouldn't say them. Perhaps it's just a passing thought or some long hidden truth, but either way, if you weren't thinking about it, it wouldn't come out.

I have always heard that a drunk tells all. The truth that is! I am a firm believer that the truth comes out when one is drunk! I have seen it happen!

when you are drunk your inhibitions are lowered. you don't think about things before you say them.
i would say that this is alittle more than drunk rambling. ditch your friend. she is probably jealous anyway. you don't deserve to be talked to like that wether she was drunk or not.

Hi. When sober we have control over what we 'expose' about our feelings. This control is diminished when under the influence. Not drunk, necessarily, but less in control.
