i don't want to worry you, but having your tonsils removed isn't a pleasant experience. i had mine removed about two years ago, and it wasn't nice. i felt like **** for the first week after and basically didnt feel like moving off my settee for that time. the pain whilst swallowing is quite bad but the painkillers and anti imflammatory drugs do help. i actually lost about a stone in a fortnight after having mine removed as i completely lost my appetite. i was fully recovered about a fortnight later, and havent even had as much as a sore throat since, so in the end its well worth the pain. stock up on some dvds and prepare to spend some serious time on the settee or in bed.

Never had it done, but I was always told that after you have your tonsils removed they give you chocolate ice cream.

Discomfort due to pain, of course you will get medication for that, but the healing process will take a few days and you will get plenty of ice cream. My daughter's favorite was lemon sherbet. Take it easy and don't talk at all for the first day or so.

pain. sorry, but it's true. you can try the ice cream thing but, in my experience, it doesn't help as swallowing is very difficult. just rest and don't talk for a few days. you'll feel better soon.

You need a lot of sleep before hand. I stayed up all night before my procedure, and they couldn't wake me up.
Stay calm, and don't let yourself get worked up. It makes your body stress SO much, and the healing is more painful.

Go buy LOTS AND LOTS of popsicles. Once the anesthesia wears off and you're able to eat without being sick you will want popsicles.

It's a routine medical procedure. You should recover within a week with no difficulty.
