My neighbor's have people that visit them at least 2-3 times a week. Their dog is never on a leash and comes in my yard and barks at my cats. And/or does his buisness and then goes back.
I know there's a leash law in my state. I know I can call the police and have them talk to her.
I open the door and look out and give her 'the look'. I don't say nothing to her because I am not out to start trouble. BUT, today her dog came in my yard once again and was barking at my cat.
I want to know if I should talk to the owner of the dog first, and mention to her about the leash laws, or over look it because the dog isn't really causing any trouble other than barking?

Always try to communicate before resorting to calling the police. Because no BIG issue is started...you don't want to a conflict because you didn't at least try to talk first.

Best wishes.

Talk to the owner and say you think there is a leash law and that you dont feel comfortable with the dogs walking around without a leash. Ask them to make sure to keep the dogs away from your house and lawn. If they still dont keep the dogs away then call the police or animal control.

It would be best to just walk over - introduce yourself - and engage in a friendly conversation. Mention that you have noticed their dog using your yard as a bathroom and request that they try to keep the dog on their property.
Then, every time you see one of the neighbors outside - make a point to say Hi.
This will go a long way toward your request.
You can always contact the animal control (or rabies control) office and report this BUT you have to live next door to these people. Use the legal means as a last resort - it will keep the neighborhood much more peaceful.

ask her where she lives so you can go bark at her and do your businesson her lawn. I hate that soem dog owners let their dogs do whatever. Or take a shovel and throw it back into your neighbors yard. It's their company's waste anyways....If you had a child and it was making noises on their prperty at their dog they'd be the first to complain I think more than likely they are well aware that there are laws adn well aware what their dog is doign but as long as you dont complain they wont do anything...besides thats one less pile they have to pick up........I'm actually condiering writign a note to our neighbor because they have a mangy old dog that coems over and uses our yard as a toilet...we dont have a dog why should my daughter nto be allowed to playin her own yard?

If they're that inconsiderate, and you don't have a fence to keep the dog out, you're only option may be calling the Police. Remember, you have to live there. Try talking to them first, and see what type of response you get.
