You have to cut your calorie intake drastically and burn 500 calories a day...you'll have to work out each day of the week (7 times). A tip for you: There's 3500 calories in 1 pound so that can help you keep track of your progress through out the week. Don't starve yourself but you can just cut out all types of foods that's unhealthy for you during this time period. It's going to be extremely hard but I'm sure you can do it.

You already know that the real goals of a diet are to lose weight and keep it off. This is hard to do if you cut out many of the foods you really like.

I tried a diet recommended by a friend and it has worked very well for me: I eat the foods I've always eaten, but I serve myself smaller portions and eat slowly. Eating slowly gives your brain time to realize you've eaten.

Watch out for "diet" foods. Fat-free products are often loaded with sugar (look at the label on fat-free ice cream or cookies). These are better than the "real" things when you're on a diet, but be sure to know what you're eating.

Exercise is very helpful in losing weight, but you either exercise or you don't--so I would advise you not to start dieting AND begin a rigorous exercise program. Doing both may (and probably will) cause you to view the exercise as punishment.

Daydream a little bit. Imagine yourself six months down the road, looking trimmer and feeling better.

Good luck.

It's always a matter of calories in and calories burned by exercise. If you don't exercise like me...the easiest way is to limit your calories and fat. Average daily requirements are based on 2000 calories and 65 fat grams. Take your current weight and multiply by 16.5 that is th number of calories to maintain your current weight cut it down (I am less then 1000 calories a day). Pay attention to your portion sizes when you look at the food you are eating. YOU WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT. I've lost 17 pounds in 4 weeks. 10 pounds were in the first 2 weeks. Limit your fat grams also. Lean Cuisine has many very tasty and low cal low fat items to eat. Pickles are basically negative calories, and if you have to have chocolate....Hershey's syrup is FAT FREE but it has calories.....put it over some low fat ice cream and you're not missing a thing... GOOD LUCK

I have been on my own diet for a week now and I have lost 8 pounds but I am bigger. I started at 209 now I am down to 201. I havent done a starvation diet by no means. I eat only when I am hungry. I will not eat after 6 or 7 (which honestly was my biggest problem). I drink only water and I drink about 4 to 5 bottles a day. I walk 1 to 3 miles a day depending on my work schedule and when I am at work I never hardly sit down.

What also helps me is I have some friends on a diet with me and when I get a little tempted to cheat I go and talk to them. They help me to remember my goals and what I am doing it for.

Harder than even that. You are going to need to do moderate to intense workout for 60 - 90 minutes each day and limit your caloric intake to 1500 calories or less, depending on your current size and weight.

Losing one pound a week is what most people hope for on a sustainable program. Losing a pound a day is hard work.
