Is it easier to convert somebody from a third-world country? I'm not talking about from one sect to another, I mean from one religion or belief system to another one.

Is it easier? Why or why not?
Is it because the converted get food and maybe shelter or help that they wouldn't normally get?
Is it because they see somebody from a succesful country and assume they are more sophisticated and must therefore be correct in belief?
Is it their ignorance? Can't that go both ways? They never heard about the faith(good things)/they never heard about the faith (bad things)

What do you think?

So they maybe have a 'simpler' life and are more open to the spiritual?

I think some aid workers exemplify what is good in the world and people convert based on seeing people who help others.

I'm sure there are those who do the "Accept Jesus and I have a nice bowl of steaming hot rice for you... with butter..." but I really don't think that's it.

Education in 3rd world countries isn't that great either, so they may not be troubled by the scientific inaccuracies in many scriptures either.

I agree with Deke. Individuals from third-world countries are more easily converted to a different religion. This is due not only to low intelligence and desperation, but also to the fact that most people in third-world countries place a great value on being socially accepted. In America, the large majority of people are Christians. Individuals from third-world countries are likely to become Christians in order to be accepted by the dominant religion. They have come from countries where they are forced to accept a dominant religion. Here, even though they have freedom of religion, they are not used to having that freedom, and want to believe what everyone else is believing.

study this actual tale after which you tell me. some missionaries have been in an area that advance into dense bush u . s . and there advance right into a tribe that could desire to no longer formerly be reached via environment. In different words, they have been hemmed in the place no guy could desire to attain them. The missionaries desperate that they could paintings and do despite they had to to prevail in the tribe with the gospel so as that they hacked away on the foilage surrounding the village for a protracted time and ultimately broke by way of. whilst they began to tell the tribe approximately Jesus, the chief of the tribe stopped them and suggested; "Jesus got here to visit us right here and all people in the tribe is a Christian now and we serve basically the Lord." possibly there is extra to Jesus than what a lot of people think of! What do you think of? remember; that's a real tale from missionary paintings.

Depends on their level of education. There are plenty of people in 3rd world nations with engineering and scientific degrees, right up to doctorate standard. Missionaries will have a lot of trouble converting them to whatever set of guff and bumpf they spout. The ignorant and stupid are of course another story and missionaries don't need third world conditions to find and fool them.

If I were running any such country I'd put all missionaries on the first plane out.

Lots of people with weak faith will convert with enough bribery.

The real show of truth is when the scholars in first world countries become Muslims due to their intense study of comparitive religion.

Yes it's easier because many of those people have nothing. They are hungry, poor, and uneducated. So, when clean shaven, nicely dressed, American missionaries come knocking on their doors, promising them happiness and fulfillment, the 3rd world citizens are more apt to jump onboard.

That is why so many religions send their members/missionaires to 3rd world countries... especially the Mormon religion.

It most definetly is. Think about the message that christians spread...God will make everything better and easier for is a tactic often used. If you've ever watched a televangical broadcast they always show the "my life was hell and magically got better with God" scenarios. You better believe that tactic is used....Along with the "if you dont you will go to hell and suffer more throughout all eternity" tactic.

And then you have the education, feeding, and shelter bit.

sick sick sick.

people in third world countries have many necessities, of course economical problems are the #1 reason!

for some reason people in poor countries receive the message with little or no questioning!!

but people in wealthy countries have everything they want, it's easier for them to ignored God, because they feel they can do everything by themselves, in less words I don't need God i have everything!!

I wouldn't know....it is not my mission in life to "convert" anyone! But gosh, cant we all just coexist?
I think that the whole christian thing about saving everyone...adopting, etc...i would think that people who were receiving the help would feel obligated to do just about anything that was requested by their so called "saviors" if they were taken out of a bad enough situation...

i live in a 3rd world country, and when Christianists came here to convert by the gun it had very little success. Christianists would kill the village elder in a bid to get others to convert as to be spared death. but being an Islamic country we fight back. 25 year bombing campaign sent these crusaders back home many dead, others crippled. I don't think its easier.
